DickRod to Arizona

Unread postby danwismar » Mon Nov 21, 2011 7:13 pm

Rich Rodriguez is expected to be named head coach at U. of Arizona within the next day or two...according to several reports.

The jokes are already flying:

first good news Rodriguez has ever received during Michigan Week (Gerd)

Arizona picked Rich Rodriguez because they felt he was a perfect fit for a team used to not winning conference titles or bowl games

At his press conference, expect him to minimize significance of ASU rivalry.

I'm no doctor, but I'm not sure that's possible. Plus, you've seen his wife. He's had to have been exposed to that and the flesh-ripping disease that attacked her.

Or he could just keep the current staff. That D absolutely blows.

Call me crazy but I think he's going to be effective there.

Plus it's the Pac whatever # but it isn't like that conference cant have another team to step up to the likes of USC, Oregon, Stanford...
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. I agree.

They don't play D on the West Side anyway.

I think he'll be a lot better out there too.

Athletes, speed and cheating play much better there than at Michigan.

I actually liked watching his offenses at West Virginia. Might be a good fit out there on the west coast.

I hate the Spread Offense. Fortunately, I watch about one Arizona game every 5 years, so this doesn't bother me.

The guys offense has always worked. Problem is, everytime he scores he's got to give the ball back to the other team. As alluded to above, the best indicator of RichRod's success in Arizona will be who's hired to coach the D.

And it may be, [okay, totally is] blasphemous to say, but Braxton Miller would have a kajillion yards from scrimmage in a DickRod offense. He's pretty much perfect for it.

Yah. Good luck enjoying OSU games for the next several years.

Not that the spread isn't being incorperated in all levels of football at this point.

Maybe there is just a particular flavor of spread you dont like? Because you are going to have a dissapointing rest of your life watching football if that blanket statement isnt exaggerated.

Urlacher, E Rocc, Don Rogers, Chip Banks and Clay Matthews Sr think you're full of shit

There's no time to learn team D out there

Everyone is too busy chasing down wide receivers and defending #1 QB's

I think he'll do ok there. With their hoops program back on the rise and low expectations, it's going to be a similar situation to West Virginia in that he can fly somewhat under the radar and when he wins it'll be all bonus.

Swerb, still don't get why you hate Dick Rod. From the Mich/tOSU games I've seen recently, he should be your favorite college fb coach of all time.

Aware of this, not looking forward to it.

Mainly, I dislike the DickRod spread, but I ain't a fan of Meyer's either.

If it works, I'll support it. It's just garbage to watch.

But this is why I watch 10x more NFL than college ball.

I like that too.

What I don't like is people running sideways every play, accompanied by the occasional uncomfortable-looking shotgun handoffs which only succeed b/c the opponent must be slow as fuck.

Bama is just a Big Ten team playing in the SEC. Only difference between them and Iowa, MSU, etc is they've got faster kids at key positions.

I actually dig Saban for that reason. He's kinda like a Billy Bob Thornton character come to life.

Cannot stand Les Miles. Dude has the swarmy used-car salesman look to him. Him and RichRod both.

In terms of the spread, I'm for it. Not the LSU/WVU type, but more of the Joe Tiller 97-04 form of it.

Dude, it's the holidays and I get all sentimental and shit so I'll just assume you have had a few too many Xmas Ales or eggnog or are in some type of Tryptophan induced haze and are just blabbering some meaningless jibberish. Through no fault of your own.
