I have a group of about 10-12 people I correspond with at work regarding sports. I posed this to them and here a four responses (no one else replied as yet):

I don’t really care, but I’m surprised that they would play (assuming of course, that they care about the fans reaction to them)

TBH – I really don’t care what they do, how they do it, or when they do it. I hold no grudges against LBJ. He is as arrogant as any of the others on the list.
Give me college hoops any day of the week.

I saw something in the paper last week that I meant to bring up - Bill Russell's record for most rebounds in one game - 49. More than one a minute, right? I think that might be a more amazing stat than Wilt's 100 point game.

Don’t care if they play. I am with XXXX – I really am over the LBJ thing. I still don’t want him to win a ring but it doesn’t bother me if there are Cavs players in the game.

Doesn't bother me at all for whatever reason.

If they fail to hammer him on a drive to the hole or help him up after he's knocked down, that bothers me. But it actually would regardless of who drives the lane.

Meh. I don't care about LeBron. I hope he never wins a championship. If he's in the playoffs, I'll be rooting for whoever he's playing. If (when?) he wins one...bummer, I guess. But, I can't imagine I'll give a shit for more than half a second. It certainly won't ruin my day. Just like I wasn't walking around on cloud nine after he failed against Dallas. Just don't care too much.

And I couldn't care less about Cavs playing in his game. What, are Kyrie and TT supposed to retroactively take on the angst of an entire city a year after the fact? I can't think of a single reason for them to carry animosity toward LBJ.

I really want to care that Irving and TT might play in this game but then I have to realize which is very hard that players just don't care that much anymore about the city or the fans who live there. It is just all about their brand and making move for them.

So hopefully if they play they don't get hurt and the only news I would love to hear from these games is if Lebron suffered a career ending injury. And yes I will never let it go and I will always wish harm upon him.

LeBron's dead to me, I wouldn't care if he were playing a charity game in my driveway. The 2011 Finals were awesome but after a while, you just need to file it away and move on.

And Lee, I really don't get the crusade against college basketball by you and a couple of others on here. Isn't it OK to enjoy both college and pro for what they are? I don't think any rational person would try to equate the quality of play between the two. But, what college basketball lacks in talent it makes up for in format (watching the bubble in March followed by the conference tournaments and the craziest two days in spectator sports is a little more exciting than watching the races for the 4 seed in the East) and the school pride element. Plus you get to see future NBA guys get their start.

Actually caring about the outcome goes a long way for me in my viewing habits and the NBA standings usually round into shape by late February. Of course the NBA Playoffs are basketball at its finest, but both sports hit their peak months apart. The NFL and college football have similar talent disparities yet I don't hear people complaining about it.
