Are you saying that when you made this thread, and titled it "Who needs the NBA" it didn't occure to you the reaction you would get, especially for e0y? Seriously? This was just supposed to be the season long "let's talk about the Vikings, Zips, and Flashes" thread?

Because if that's really what you thought, and the reaction didn't occure to you, then you really need to be wearing a helmet at all times.

If it did occure to you, then you were just stirring shit up...which is cool. No problem with that. But, either you were trolling, or "should be using rounded scissors" stupid. Which is it?

You add the fact that OSU is ranked the best in the Big Ten right now, damn good time for Ohio CBB right now.

Wonder how the Bearcats, Musketeers, and Flyers are looking as well. I know we've got fans of the two latter.

Fuck you Spin. You've always been a passive/aggressive dickhead and the thread title is no different. I don't give a shit how you play it, that's how it came off to people and that's as much a reason you titled it that instead of 'Our Annual Get Excited About the Local Guys' thread.

No ones gives a shit so fucking own it. God dam, at least someone might respect it more. Defending it makes you look like a bigger a-hole.

Multiple people said that's how it appeared. Again, they're all wrong. They're either right or you simply can't express yourself in a way where you don't come off as a douchebag.

If the forums lose one more it'd be like gaining something back.

There are many a-holes here, present company included. I simply see no reason not to stand behind being one. It's genetic.

But hey, people are engaged in the thread, so...

So you guys are actually going to say that I am the only poster who occasionally has a thread go in a different direction than was intended? Bull fuckin shit. I see it all the time.

Like I said, if I wanted to throttle the NBA, I would go to the NBA section.

You guys got nothing better to do right now since we're numb to Sandusky now, the Browns game was another episode of "Groundhog Day", and the Cavs are locked out. I get it. So boring everyone would rather argue the subject of the thread and ignore the content. I get it. It's the annual "What the fuck were you thinking using that subject HERE?" :spanky:

Understood.

Thrash on.

And Fuck Boston. And Cant State. I got a Blue Moon on tap that says the Zips are gonna kick Golden Showers ass this year. One each for both regular season games and the MAC Finals. SSS? JB?

Nope. Not what I'm saying anyway. I'm saying many of us have it happen and many of us do it intentionally. And many of us ultimately admit that was the point anyway.

I'm saying you got bored and wanted to pluck someone's feathers. I'm saying that's how it seems and that I'm clearly not alone in thinking that.

I'm also saying, "Own it"

You framed it how you intended to frame it. No need whatsoever for a legit thread on the local college basketball scene to cut down the dopey NBA unless a reaction from those inclined to defend it was hoped for.

Nothing I've enjoyed more personally than watching last year's MAC final at the Q (where, by the way, "thuggery" was on prominent display at games end). Has nothing to do whatsoever with an either/or NBA/NCAA choice.

What Peek said.

I have no problem with you starting a thread that you know will ruffle some feathers. I like those threads. But, you're sitting back with your "who me? I just wanted to talk about CSU. Why can't a fella just start a thread around here?" bullshit.

This thread went the only way it COULD go from the moment you typed in the subject. Again, I don't mind that at all. But if you are saying you couldn't see how this was going to go then you're fucking stupid.

Hey, don't knock Blue Moon. Blue Moon is great when you have to finish the rest of your wife's beer while getting up to leave after eating at a restaurant that doesn't have Hoegaarden or Franziskaner.

My wife didn't. :hic:

My wife doesn't always finish hers. Usually does, but not always. I don't want to get into a situation where my wife and I are making lists titled "things that suck about my spouse". I will come out on the losing end in that battle. It wouldn't be close.

NBA playoffs > all college hoops.

March Madness > vast majority of NBA reg. season and occasionally = NBA playoffs.

NCAA season > number of good story lines & reasons to watch from start to finish v. NBA.

NBA & NCAA both have dry spots during their seasons.

There is very little value in pro sports period.

Yeah in the future when a thread flames up, it's better to just stand aside and watch it burn. LOL. Firemen hate that tactic, but here it's the better strategy.

I'm not anti-NBA, it's just not my sport. If the Cavs are good, I'll watch. But basketball is not like the NFL. I don't sit and watch the Celtics and the Bulls. Or the Blue Devils and Kentucky. The NBA playoffs CAN be as exciting as a big college matchup in person. Other than that, meh. I watched the finals so I could see if my observation of LeChoke came through, since I took so much shit on here when I brought it up.

It did. :fu:

I'd still much rather have an NHL team than the Cavs.

The Bostonian is from Ohio originally? I can picture that. He was probably one of those guys who went to Cavs games back in the Stepien days, when 1500 people would show up. All sitting there with a blizzard raging outside, watching a 67 loss team, criticizing all the people who decided not to go...

First the NBA was not "pure basketball"

Then it was pure "thuggery"

Then it was a rich man's sport

and now you're not "against" it?

It aint. It's been bastardized (more than the other TV sports) for TV. It's all about the individual, the SportCenter Top 10 dunk.

Then it was pure "thuggery"

I said wanna-be thugs. A culture that clashes with many others.

Then it was a rich man's sport

Never said that. Don't know where in the hell you got that one from. ::doh::

and now you're not "against" it?

Never said I was. It's not my favorite. I'll watch it if the Cavs are contenders. It's alright. I'll take a good college game over an awful pro game. I'll take a bad NFL game over a good (not great) NBA game.

We don't get the Browns games down here in Central Fla. so I haven't seen them play once this year. I can't stand sitting in a bar for three hours of NFL on a crap tv without a laptop so that is out.

Thus, 8 or 9 weeks in and I haven't watched a single NFL game. I used to say the same thing about the NBA, and I was damn pissed after last year but now I admit if they were in-season, I'd definitely have it on the tube. Now I might put the NFL on as background noise after everyone goes to bed, but it's almost guaranteed I am not watching it. Bores me to no end to watch the 49ers play the Giants or whatever.

This thread would be better served if it were just a beer discussion.

I'm pretty sure Spin has set the record for trolling attempts and course alterations in a single thread.

Why do the 2 have to be mutually exclusive? Pay more money (NBA) for a premium product & pay less money (NCAA) for an inferior product.

That said - I love my Vikings hoops and I hold them as close to my heart as I do the Cavs. Again - they are not mutually exclusive - it just so happens 1 product is better than the other (depending on what your definition of product is).

It's always fun to watch a team get built from the ground up and transform from a shit team to a top 50 team. And that is why I finally feel some solace in rooting for the Vikes.

Same goes with the Cavs. Irving & Thompson are just the beginning of the rebuild. Perhaps it's the entrepreneurial spirit in me - but I enjoy seeing massive progress

Vikings, Zips, Flashes ... all got nice teams this year. All could win 25+ games and get at-large consideration for the Dance.

Massive win for the Vikings Sunday.

I get to 3-4 CSU games a year.

If sitting 8 rows behind Gary Waters for $15, watching his kids slap the floor on defense, and just kill themselves for Waters (who they clearly fear, respect, and love) doesn't do it for you - you're not a basketball fan.

I leave CSU games and I feel guilty watching the NBA for a week. Especially when I see a player so stoned he checks into the games with his warmup pants still on.

CSU is roughly the 50th best team in America. It's not Lakers/Celtics, nor is anyone pretending it is. But it's entertaining basketball. And there is no better live sport.

I'm going to try to follow the Flashes more closely this season.

Shit ain't a replacement for the NBA (which I've grown to enjoy it's post-season as one of the best in all of sports), but it's good to be able to watch a sports team that won't make me stab my eyes out while watching.

If Indeed there was/is an NBA season I'd be psyched to see Kyrie play and see what we've got in him. Last season was kinda futile, as there was really nothing to look forward to as a fan. This season? I'm excited. Plus, a fucking okc-chicago finals just would be amazing. Really hope that happens in the near future.

All that said, Go Flashes and Fuck Akron.

Zeke's still here, along with Cvet. Quincy Diggs is better than ever. And transfer Chauncey Gilliam looks to be the shaprshooter Akron hasn't had in years.

All in all, this should be the start of the best college basketball NEOhio has seen. It has the potential to be better than the Huggins-Mackey era, and last a whole lot longer.

So far, no JB still going off on the end of the MAC Daddy last season. Probably still too pissed to post. No Vikes fans asking where the Zip fans are going before the game to tailgate (bargate?). Nobody with a preview of the Vikes or Flushes. And nobody taking me up on my cheap beer bet.

Don't worry comish, I'm going to take a dump in this thread every chance I get until Spin can admit he is a trolling piece of mentally damaged trash.

I know some bar around PSU that sells a "dirty hoe" which was a draft hoegarden with some framboise in it. You should never go there.

Just getting home. Is this game on anywhere? Not streaming on horizon.org and didn't see it flipping through channels.

Good game thanks to a tweet from Mr. Telich , I found the game online near the end. Im going to call it now and say the Horizon gets two teams in the tourney this year (CSU and Detroit).

Question: better conference A10 or Horizon?
