So...sorry guys about not getting a game preview up on the front page this week....(whaddya mean you didn't notice?)

Anyway, I'm here at Purdue and ready to roll...44 minutes till kickoff. Teams are out on the field for warmups and the grub in the press box isn't half bad.

All the media guys can talk about is whether we'll be within sight of a TV showing Penn State-Nebraska....doesn't look like it, from where I'm sitting at least... I can follow the scoring on the web, but if someone's watching it on TV, let us know what's going on.

Between here and Twitter, I'll try to keep some running commentary going. Jump in and help me out...please...

Gets boring in the press box, no? I think the only Tribe threads I started all season were sitting there watching Hoynes fall asleep, Reghi eat like he was going to the chair (then leave) and visiting writers set their fantasy lineup.

Two quick questions, Dan:

1. Any chance Fickell retains that job if he runs the table in a difficult season with potentially 6 straight wins using a raw freshman QB?

2. When is the NCAA likely to announce bowl ban if one is forthcoming?

A few questions:

1. Is the mood at Purdue a but subdued IYO due to the PSU scandal? Seems like the kind of thing that could/should affect our enthusiasm for college fottball and sports in general.


2. I read Lesmer yesterday on twitter saying that if a bowl ban was forthcoming, it is probably too late to affect this year. If this is the case, would the Buckeyes be smart in self imposing a bowl ban this season to try to get ahead of it and forgo any future bans that might affect recruiting and better teams?

Can they do that and would it be considered as serving their sentence? They, IMO, won't run risk of missing two more bowls after forfeiting last year's cash.

If Meyer takes a pass, Fickell's chances go up several fold, but I still don't think he's retained (as head coach)....in part because I doubt they'll run the table.

Supposedly the NCAA COI doesn't even meet until 12/10, but OSU has asked them to consider this matter and decide before the BT championship game is held...for obvious reasons. If OSU is out of contention for that game, there's no hurry.

Many of the media guys I've been talking to, including Doug at the PD, don't think a postseason ban will happen anyway. I'm not that confident right now. In either case, we should know the first week of December if OSU is eligible for BTCG...or about a week later if they're not.

Yeah, I don't know if they can do it, but it sure seems like a bowl ban is coming and I'd just as soon get it over with this season if possible.

Is it subdued here? Yes...I guess so...but I'm not sure whether that's because OSU-Purdue is a relatively friendly rivalry....I've seen lots of OSU and Purdue people mingling and tail-gating together, etc...or if it's owing to the PSU situation.

Very surreal scene at PSU. Both teams gather at midfield for a prayer and there's just a load of emotion in that building. You can see it on every face. You just hope that doesn't boil over in a negative way depending how the game itself goes.

Yeah...saw it after I asked. At least they'll have it at their back in the 4th qtr and it looks like the Buckeyes' play calling with the wind has been a bit more aggressive.

This is the worst OSU football I have seen.... ever.

I am still not sure that tOSU has had the ball today, it sure doesn't feel like there is anything going on offense. In all honesty, I called this upset about 30 mins before kickoff. This team has no LBs and you can't stop a spread with your DL and secondary.

tOSU probably could have lost to IU last week if IU wasn't so bad defensively that it was a given that they would give up 4 50+ yard plays.

This team is actually getting worse week to week and that is the most damning indictment against Fickell and his staff.
