Love how Jalen's flower shrunk when he was the one getting trash-talked at Illinois.

Fun, entertaining team, for sure. But what a bunch of jerks.

I thought the special was alright when they weren't professing their undying fucking love for each other.

Jalen getting bent about C Webb dissing Martin was good. Loved the old footage, loved the misery on C Webbs face after the TO and the fact he still won't talk about it.

Love how he wants nothing to do with is four other brothers for life.

Most of all I love the fact they won shit.

Fucking Jent makes an 8 footer and that show is just one hour long.

Awesome. Especially this:

I try to live my life as a good husband and father. I am proud of my family. I am proud of my Duke championships and all my Duke teammates. And, I am proud I never lost a game against the Fab Five.

But...... it seems to me that Rose, King, et al were saying how they perceived the kids at Duke 20 years ago, not now. That's how the Fab 5 saw the Duke kids then, without the benefit of age and wisdom. I didn't get the impression while watching the show that any of them still felt that way.

Is Hill battling windmills somewhat here? I agree with what he says but I'm not sure it's topical/timely.

Significant, on-going issue within the community.

Rose embarassed himself. This wasn't some 1970's 60 Minutes yellow journalism hatchet job. Rose was listed as an "executive producer" of the program. What he wanted in was left in and in full context. Would have been one thing to compare and contrast how Calvin raised Grant to his own lack of relationship to his father, and how it made him resentful and jelous at the time and how he looks back and sees it another way, but he chose not to. As exec producer he wasn't misquoted, misrepresented, or mis-anything. He busted out what he meant.

I'm glad Hill tee'd off on him. Jerks deserve that. Dunno if JR is a complete jerk, but he was a jerk in that particular segment.

Look at it this way. Say Hurley and Laettner produced a documentary on their Duke teams and in mentioning the Fab 5 said, "We thought they were a bunch of ghetto trash and wouldn't have wanted their fried chicken-and-watermelon asses anywhere near Durham."

Could they have said, "Well, that was a long time ago, they were kids then" and gotten away with it?

Besides, from what I've seen Jalen Rose and Jimmy King haven't exactly distanced themselves from their opinions on Duke basketball.

Breaking out the "Uncle Tom" slur... that's serious stuff. It's well within Grant Hill's prerogative to still be honked over that. Because they insulted him as a man with that.

+1

Rose has sidestepped everytime someone gives him a chance to back away from his moronic comments. I would really like to know what makes Jalen Effin Rose so superior that he can sit in judgement of Hill.

And some of these talking dweebs on tv and radio patting these assholes on the back saying "Ohh they're just so honest".

Fuck the Fab 5.

Okay. I hear y'all and you're probably right.

Just seemed to me like a lot of water went under the bridge but I see what each of you is saying. Epecially given Rose's position in producing it and, like Jesse said, what the backlash woulda been the other way around.

Agree with all of that and all of you except for CDT who doesn't know shit about race relations, pizza, uncle tom's, ncaa violations, cars,, libyans, chicks, libyan chicks, tattoos, schnitzel, stouts and porters or halogen headlights.

At the risk of sounding like Yogi Berra that might be best because I've forgotten most of what CDT doesn't know.

You know, the Fab 5 was basically just a fake-ass version of Tark's UNLV teams. Everything the Fab 5 claimed they started, everything they said they stood for... UNLV started it first and stood for it better.

Word. I was thinking the exact same thing as those two docs premiered on the same weekend. An oh yeah, UNLV won a title.

The Rebs would of thoroughly trashed the fab 5 back then, during their pro careers, now, and when they are all old, in wheelchairs getting fed through a tube.

Bravo Jesse. Right on. And the HBO doc on them was better. You can even make the case that Thompson at G-town was the catalyst. Then again, Thompson's Hoya's : Public Enemy :: Fab 5 : 2 Live Crew

UNLV was misrepresented IMO. Hardly street thugs when Greg Anthony could have been the poster child for the Young Republicans. Now Llotd Daniels? One word. Dayum.

There but for the grace of God go I...

Not gonna rail on people for it as I've gotten home more than once stupidly behind the wheel but Jalen is close enough to my age to know better and he's got enough scratch to not ever have this be an issue.

If you don't figure that shit out by his age (and mine) then you assume the risk and the penalties that come with opening the driver side door.

YMMV

Watching Unguarded on ESPN.

Doc about Chris Herren, basketaball player from Fresno/Celtics in the 90's Got into drugs.

I don't remember him but it's un-fucking-believable.

I think it's kinda odd how simmons can head up something that cranks out some great docs. like 30 for 30..

but then on the flipside pushes Grantland, which is complete and utter shit. seriously this article is terrible:

http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post?id=8435

I realize and know it's satire, but it's not even remotely funny. Thus it fails.

I remember LSU having a home/home with Fresno in basketball in the late 90's. LSU was going on probation and about to drop off terribly. The game in Baton Rouge was during Herren's first year there and he was awesome. 24 foot assassin, just seemed to have the softest jumper ever at the time. The next year in Fresno he was already into his treatment, and Rafer Alston torched us. Tarkanian didn't have anything great at Fresno, but he did scrap together a few NCAA teams in that run.

Of course they are doing Mo... Simmons already sucked a few million internet hits by having him write his history for Grantland, why not turn it into a script and suck a few million TV viewers out of it?

Nothing better than Grantland recycling their own shit for TV...
