Will the NHL gain from an NBA lockout?

If the NBA is locked out, does the NHL stand to gain some new fans?

Or are they hopelessly locked up on Versus most of the time, waiting for it to become NBC Sports and bigger than ESPN. right...

Locally, does it help attendance in places like Phoenix? NY? LA? Dallas?

Will the Monsters see a gain?

Ratings-wise I don't think they will see much of a blip until late January or February. If the lockout lasts that long.

Attendance-wise, I think a lot of teams will see an increase, and hopefully that will be something that continues after the lockout. It might even bring some of the franchises back from the edge..
