I see a player that gets engulfed by blockers, and who's a day-late, dollar-short covering backs and TE out of the back field. I don't see a playmaker. He's looked better in the 43, but he's still not the player we hoped he'd be after taking him at the top of the second round.

Any linebacker makes tackles. The good linebackers make PLAYS. Think about the last 10 years of Browns Linebacking for a minute - or an hour - and try to recall PLAYS that they made.

And Christ if the team isn't set up for that now. With that interior line keeping guys clean....

This "good" news will just mean that Karma will come to bite us in the ass today when Nyquill gets hurt and is out for the season......That's all this good news means. As was mentioned unthread, the real litmus test for LBs is their impact plays...I can't recall too many from DQ this season (or ever).

Even on the forced fumble and recovery, I believe Mitchell really made the play (against Bush last week), but maybe I am thinking about the wrong play. And even if I am, the fact that I can't pinpoint the play kinda tells you something.

I watched every play of every game so far. My eyeballs say DQ has 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a shitload of tackles. Sorry if you don't recall some of those plays.

I also read that Jauron and Shurmer decided before camp even started that Jackson was their MLB based on game film from earlier in his career. They liked what they saw and thought he'd be perfect for the scheme. Then he goes out and gets AFC Defensive POM right out of the gate, and we still get complaints that he can't play.

I'm not a D'Qwell fan. But if the entire LB corps was playing as hard and as well as D'Qwell that unit would be just fine.

I don't care if he's a product of he DL and the scheme or not. He's not an impact player, I agree with that for the most part. He has zero tackles for loss. But he has a few sacks, has forced a fumble and when he's meeting guys at or near the line of scrimmage I'm not seeing him get knocked back 3-5 yards either. He's knocking backs down on impact. He's not knocking them backward but he's played well IMO.

He's running sideline to sideline and making tackles.
