CFB Sept. 10th thread

Seeing Notre Dame and Michigan at Gameday reminds me why I hate both schools.

Is there anyway both schools could lose somehow?

Bad news- Penn State used all 3 timeouts on their opening 3-point drive against Alabama.

Good news- Paterno will be asleep before the final minutes of the first half when they need them.

The announcers said JoePa is almost back to his 6 mile per day walking regimen. They didn't say it's in circles and that he genuinely looks like he may have only about 30 more miles left in him.

State Penn looks pretty good so far. QB is a huge weakness for Bama.
Coming from a Wolverine, we're the football equivalent of a formerly abused wife of a meth addict who just remarried the safe nice guy. We're just glad we have someone who's aware that it's a rivalry and that tackling on defense is integral. Baby steps.

Hopefully State Penn does not emabarass the B1G. OSU was trying its ass off to do so.

Nice job losing to ISU there Iowa. Speaking of embarassing the B1G.

Not that they're any good, though they did play USC admirably, Minnesota's down 2 touchdowns at home to New Mexico St.

What does that say about USC? Everyone expects Minny to be in the toilet, USC is supposed to be good.

Considering Minnesota is using a converted WR at QB with a first year coach and all new schemes.

Doesn't say much about USC.

I think Alabama is a McCarron corner turn away from being the best team in the country. Don't want to see that kid get any confidence, cause outside of QB (which I understand is saying a lot) I think top to bottom they are way better than Oklahoma, for example.

Alabama could/will win it all this year. That team is great top to bottom. Now that Saban has decided on a QB, I think we could see the McCarron corner turn.

I don't believe in OU anyway.

it's bama/lsu to me. Whomever wins that game, will be National Champions.

Can I ask something? is there anything the Big Ten or any other conference can do to catch up with the SEC, or are we doomed to permanently be an afterthought?

Rice is up by two over the Boilermakers.

This has to be Hope's last year. Enough with this running the ball crap. That's buckeye/michigan/wisconsin ball.

hire Tim Beckman, run a spread formation and call it a day. Have him and Applebee lead us to the Alamo Bowl again.

Minnesota coach Jerry Kill just collapsed on the sideline.

Paramedics tending to him now.

Never seen a stadium so quiet in my life. Scary.

Apparently he has a history of seizures, according to various sites he's in stable condition.

I hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to being on the sidelines.

scUM looks bad against ND tonight. I am not sure if it is "27-22 vs. Toledo" bad, but they look like shit on both sides of the ball. Except for their 185# scatback that throws the ball, that team is 100% devoid of talent.

ND is 2 TERRIBLE throws from being up 31-0.

At least Tebow had actually accomplished something.

Robinson what's his big accomplishment other than tonight?

Edit: Even tonight. It's Notre Dame. A team that's been irrelevant in CFB since '95.

The entire game was sad.

Brent and Herbie orgasmed over it but it was two really mediocre teams playing bad football, competing to make worse decisions and competing to see who could look the most defensively challenged.

Yes, exciting end in terms of scoring changes.

But really bad football.

However, the Buckeye fans who shout 'win is a win' when referring to the OSU-Toledo embarrassment, well, they can't throw too many stones.
That's not you or referring to anyone specifically here. Just saying...UM is also 2-0 regardless how they got there.

Yep, I am not seeing much, "a win is a win" out there. I am seeing a lot of people, the same people singing Fickell's praises last week, calling for his job and his replacement. I am not sure if Fickell should go or not, but I do know that Jim Bollman should. OSU needs to install a real offense, I am sure Fick can handle the defense, and if he is going to be hands off on the offense, he needs a super star to run it.

As for new coaches, I really am not sure who I would want. Most of the coach du jours fizzle pretty hard and there are not many good options out there that are established. I am not interested in Peterson or Patterson. Meyer is not coming, so who is left? Chucky? Please.

I was particularly laughing at the praise of DR's wildly underthrown throws that went for big plays and TD's as being intentionally placed where they were.

I am squarly in Lukes corner right now, hoping for him to be successful enough to warrant keeping him, but that's on him and the team. I agree 100% on Bolman, I've never liked his philosophies on the Oline, let alone the offense.

I saw it brought up somewhere that should they choose to go in another direction, Beckman should be brought in for an interview, and I see that as someone who is a possibility I hadn't considered before last week. In ATO's analysis of the enemy article breaking down Toledo, they detail some good qualities he has exhibited as the HC at Toledo, putting aside the game Saturday.
