I dont have a problem with that particular play though. It took a good throw and Gordon came up with it.
It is better than taking your chances with them hitting the runner in from 3rd or, gasp, Skinner parking a runner. but fortunately Skins is gone
I do agree though that that was higher risk but he knows the opportunitites are few and far betweem so he took a chance sending him

I'm willing to bet Gordon threw out 2 Tribe runners before tonight's game. Gordon has a great arm. No problem with taking a chance. Now if Stevie does it again and the runner is thrown out by Gordon again .

EDIT: that was Cabrera the CF, not as good of an arm as Gordon's. Glad to see Stevie not hold Santana there

Hannahan continued his hot hitting and slick fielding.

Choo got in the game so it looks like he won't go on the DL after all.

Zeke drew two walks and sacrificed. His second walk drove in the game winning run. I like this guy a lot.

Marson threw out another runner trying to steal, which saved a run when the next batter singled.

They even had a shot of Grady running in the outfield before the game.

On the down side, I agree Phelps is the worst player in the major leagues right now. AFAIC, Donald should start every game at 2nd. Phelps' role should be pinch running for Thome or Duncan in the 8th or 9th inning of a close game.

From here on out no more platooning if I'm the manager, except for Thome and Duncan at DH. Hanny plays every day at 3rd, Donald at 2nd, Santana at 1st, and Marson catching. The OF is Choo, Fuku, and Zeke. No LaPorta, Chisenhall, or Phelps. Don't want to see them at all, unless Marson needs a day off, then they can let LaPorta play one game at 1st with Santana catching.

My plan is not to win the division. That's a dream, not a plan. Yeah, as soon as they're out of it Manny will be trotting out a different lineup every game. But until all hope is extinguished, they need to stick with Hanny, Donald, and Marson and minimize Chiz, Phelps, and LaPorta.

Astrubal needs a day off. He's something like 0-for-16 and looks dead out there. With no off days and a couple of doubleheaders coming up, Manny needs to find him a day off somewhere, even if it means a Donald/Phelps middle infield. It's a shame Kipnis went down.
