Hey, Jim Thome's back!

More importantly, Nick Hagadone has been called up.

And all it cost us was Tomlin on the DL. Total score!

Ubaldo fell behind everyone.... but, the velocity was up to 95mph on the K pitch to Hosmer.

The stuff is still there..... just need to straighten out this guys mechanics... simple as that!

As soon as Phelps hit into that double play, I knew that would be the case. And then they couldn't even backtrack and show it after his at-bat. Nice work, guys.

Yep. Give Belcher an offseason to work with him.

I guarantee Ubaldo wins 15 games next year.

Eh, gotta love the standing O for Thome. Great to see him back in an Indians jersey. If this was just a marketing ploy, it was well worth the money. I'll watch games just in the hopes of watching a Thome bomb.

Can't make the walk dude. If they were playing in my backyard I'd have to leave at 11am to make the game.

Phelps screws up at 2B again. Sick pick by Hannahan.

Phelps is....umm...not good defensively. You're not turning two on that ball. You need to a 1B there. Now you're looking at a big inning.

Busted two bats in the inning and picked up his defense. Good inning for Jimenez there. Solo HRs are forgivable. See Tomlin, Josh.

Guy could still walk out there today and give up 5 runs in 4 innings though. Give him that.

Apparently Steve Smith didn't get the memo on Gordon with his 19 OF assists-- now 20 OF assists.

I dont have a problem with that particular play though. It took a good throw and Gordon came up with it.
It is better than taking your chances with them hitting the runner in from 3rd or, gasp, Skinner parking a runner. but fortunately Skins is gone
I do agree though that that was higher risk but he knows the opportunitites are few and far betweem so he took a chance sending him

I'm willing to bet Gordon threw out 2 Tribe runners before tonight's game. Gordon has a great arm. No problem with taking a chance. Now if Stevie does it again and the runner is thrown out by Gordon again :pb: .

EDIT: that was Cabrera the CF, not as good of an arm as Gordon's. Glad to see Stevie not hold Santana there :salute:

Cord Phelps just may be the worst major league baseball player I've ever seen.

WHY IS HE HITTING SECOND?! That's makes no sense. Yeah, hit the least productive hitter the team has had all year in the #2 hole.

This win would be so much easier on my heart if Perez didn't make things so...Borowski!

Thome won't bring us a World Series victory just by showing up but if the Tribe crashes and burns by the end of the season it will be more fun with him riding shotgun.

Completely arbitrary stat of the night:-

Since becoming a dad, Jack Hannahan is hitting .419(13-for-31)/.526/.452/.978 in 11 games.

And how about Choo since he became a Daddy? If his stats are up too I say Antonetti needs to buy all the guys champagne and silk teddies for the guys to give to their wives. More babies might make the Tribe the most awesome offensive team of all time!

Huge win tonight.

Jimenez finally pitched like the guy we traded our two top prospects for.

Hannahan continued his hot hitting and slick fielding.

Choo got in the game so it looks like he won't go on the DL after all.

Zeke drew two walks and sacrificed. His second walk drove in the game winning run. I like this guy a lot.

Marson threw out another runner trying to steal, which saved a run when the next batter singled.

They even had a shot of Grady running in the outfield before the game.

On the down side, I agree Phelps is the worst player in the major leagues right now. AFAIC, Donald should start every game at 2nd. Phelps' role should be pinch running for Thome or Duncan in the 8th or 9th inning of a close game.

From here on out no more platooning if I'm the manager, except for Thome and Duncan at DH. Hanny plays every day at 3rd, Donald at 2nd, Santana at 1st, and Marson catching. The OF is Choo, Fuku, and Zeke. No LaPorta, Chisenhall, or Phelps. Don't want to see them at all, unless Marson needs a day off, then they can let LaPorta play one game at 1st with Santana catching.

It was electric their tonight. Drove 10 hours straight from Va to the game. It was well worth it, even got a free Welcome Gnome sign which they we're giving out........the sign is pretty legit too.....its almost as if they knew he was coming.

Once this team goes 8 down your whole plan goes out the window. Because Chisenhall needs to be spoon-fed however many at bats he can get from then til the end of the year.

Ride Hannahan this weekend and into next week if there's still a pulse. If there isn't then don't waste ABs on Hannahan. Fine utility player, I love the way he plays. But as soon as his bat cools or the race is over Chisenhall needs to play.

I agree on Donald completely. Phelps looks ready to cry every time you see him. Donald should get ABs somewhere.

My plan is not to win the division. That's a dream, not a plan. Yeah, as soon as they're out of it Manny will be trotting out a different lineup every game. But until all hope is extinguished, they need to stick with Hanny, Donald, and Marson and minimize Chiz, Phelps, and LaPorta.

Astrubal needs a day off. He's something like 0-for-16 and looks dead out there. With no off days and a couple of doubleheaders coming up, Manny needs to find him a day off somewhere, even if it means a Donald/Phelps middle infield. It's a shame Kipnis went down.
