Not counting the front running teams, Chicago has easily been the worst opponent for us all season. When we play them at Cell Phone Field, I just do not have good vibes. The '95 and '99 Indians were the only team that could go into that place and take it over. I hate this field.

Agreed. This place has rarely been too kind to the Tribe.

And it's a shithole, cookie cutter ballpark that's not old but pre-dated actual ballpark personailty and it was dropped into a desolate, shitty area surrounded by either nothing or likely death.

I agree with you. He may well be the best defensive 3b in baseball. But I disagree with FortheWin in that Hannahan not winning a GG will have anything to do with anything other than Jack Hannahan.

Excellent. Talking about him deciding to replace Fausto's 'spinning slider' with the changeup because of the downward action and in occasionally calling for the slider early in the count to show it and keep it in the hitters' heads?

About consciously forcing Fausto to work in a faster rhythm so as not to dwell on every pitch as much?

That's the difference between he and Santana in the game management part of the game. Add to that his ability to throw and move behind the dish for balls n the dirt, subtract his hitting and he's still by far and away the best man to catch this staff.

I explained all this in the last game thread, I know you saw it. His last game was clear proof he was completely back against Detroit. He went toe to toe with the best pitcher in baseball and put 5 straight zeroes on the board after some pretty weak runs against him and bad defense. He's gone 8 straight games giving up 4 runs or less. The team is 5-2 in his last 7 starts. I said at the time of the Ubaldo trade that you could look at some peripheral stats and state he wasn't as good as even Carmona this year. Ubaldo was a shiny toy though and still is. Carmona's the better pitcher this year though (it's only my opinion, just my opinion me stating that, just an opinion, just an opinion, I have some evidence to back it up, but just an opinion, you can feel Jimenez is better this year too). Since June 20th, he's been a really good pitcher. His ERA has dropped EVERY SINGLE GAME since the Colorado misadventure on June 20th.

I'm just stating opinion here...just an opinion. But I think he's had a couple others this good. I remember 7 shutout matched up with the superb John Lester against Boston we won 1-0. another in Oakland he was dynamite too. IN trying to develop iron clad arguments and theses, I actually study game logs of every player that exists...especially pitchers!!

Fausto needs to not think and just throw. My knowledge of the game is average at best about what type of pitch it is. I do know tonight he was the Fausto of old.  He needs to stick to it and NOT THINK. Let the catcher call it. And as for Marson;

I saw the last 1/2 or final 1/3 of the Marson interview. I was listening to the radio still. From what I did hear and what you wrote, I'm very impressed with Lou's ability to call a game. Another part of the game that is vital that 99% of fans overlook (as well as Santana, from the looks of it) Not sure where to find the stats on a catchers W-L record. 

Perhaps with Marson playing more, he might begin hitting better with some power? Like you said, he's still by far and away the best man to catch & to throw guys out.

 LaPorta will go far and away after this season, maybe hang with Garko in Korea.
