The foot wasn't on the bag when he caught the ball. The ball beat him there, but the phantom base touch wins it for Detroit.

Stellar effort by Fausto. could have been an emotional blowup after some soft runs the first two innings but he really held it together.

Stab my heart, Austin Jackson. DAMN YOU!

The stadium would've exploded if that got over the wall.

Possibly stole a home run away from Santana.

He at least took extra bases off of him and saved the tying run.

Chances of scoring again against Verlander in the 8th or Valverde, a perfect 32-for-32 in saves, in the 9th?!

I don't fancy our chances.

Need to do the same against the Twins this weekend.

Far be it from me to say I noted that was coming much earlier in the day but..... Santana isn't earning much respect from his mates at either position on the field.

Also, Chisenhall can't move back toward 1b on that ball from Marson. Freeze, see it through and walk into 2B. That cost them 1st and 2b w/no outs and a bunter at the plate with no one out.

Games hinge on those mistakes against a guy like Verlander. Go so far as to say it may have been the difference between being a game back as opposed to the three back they sit now.

Another example of growing pains w/the kids I guess.

I was there tonight and sat pretty close behind third, to me it looked like Chisenhall made a couple half ass efforts at balls that seemed to roll right by him that looked like he could have made a play on. Maybe it looked worse from my angle, but the other groans around me made me think it was a disappointing effort. His base running was atrocious as well. Wouldn't be shocked at all if Hannahan is at 3rd tomorrow.

Honestly don't think it's laziness with Chisenhall. Just think he's slow to the ball. slow to react and slow in regarding baserunning/baseball instincts.

He can hit. But he's nowhere close to complete player and he needs a solid offseason of work at 3b to become just mediocre. I agree it's about time that Hannahan gets a game or two at 3b. Let Chisenhall breathe and watch and slow down some.

Dude's hitting 220-ish so Hannahan ain't gonna kill you vs. Chis offensively right now and he'll actually make a play.

Chisenhall needs to do plyometrics. His explosion at 3B is awful. His first step is so slow. That's why Hannahan can get to damn near everything, his footwork and first step are so perfectly textbook that he could easily teach fielding classes. You can see why they were hesitant to bring him up and sacrifice defense for offense.

If Chisenhall isn't going to hit above his defense, with Choo back and the way Kipnis is swinging the stick, I wouldn't mind seeing Hannahan more at 3B with our groundball guys.

It's unfair to do this, but, since Chiz did screw up on the basepaths, I wonder what happens to that game with 1st & 2nd 0 out and Carrera up. Might have been going to extras tied 4-4 if we hadn't taken the lead there. Huge play.
