Santana's inadequacy in the field has cost us 3 runs

Santana is just a shitty baseball player. His defense is beyond horrible.

I mean that sucks too, but it shouldn't have even got that far. Santanna always effing everything up. You cant put that kid anywhere defensively where he cant screw you

Becoming increasingly obvious you can't hide Santana anywhere defensively. That's another 12-14 pitches and 3 runs he cost Jimenez by being nothing other than lazy.

True, but that doesn't change the fact that Ubaldo gave up a scorched triple and a double and also walked a guy.
He has to settle down and limit the damage.
I still have no idea how that play with Victor wasn't ruled an error..... the ball hit Santana in the glove and he dropped it.... how do you call that a hit?!

the scorer thought it was out of his reach and thus there was nothing Santana could've done
But it would've been within his reach if he stretched to his right instead of stretching straight towards Asdrubal. First basemen should wait until the throw is almost at them to stretch so they know which way to reach. Santana doesn't understand that, apparently. He reached way too early and couldn't adjust when the throw wasn't right at him.

I think A-Cab's heel is a bit tender. I'm not concerned. It looke dlike he got hit on the achilles in his previous at bat so it is going to be sore.

From the Tigers perspective, that probably doesn't bother them that much since they know they're not going to need a bullpen tomorrow!

FWIW the Orioles are beating the White Sux 4-0 in the top of the 6th in Baltimore. Go O's!
Oh, and the Tribe is beating the Kitties 8-3 going into the top of the 5th...but I didn't want to type it too loudly...

I don't know it's usualy feast or famine for us when we face Verlander (11-11 with an ERA near 5 in his career vs Cleveland.) We have mixed success against him. We either get 2 hit or we smack him around like a piñata

Yep, we want Matt LaPorta providing protection for Asdrubal and Hafner in the line-up. That'll work out REAL well.

I feel so much more comfortable with Fukudome in right field. He takes great routes and doesn't show any fear when he's approaching the wall, he just goes after it.

I'm hoping for 7 innings from UJ. He's at 74 pitches now so he's on course for that kind of performance.

I haven't looked up the stats but, I'd hazard a guess that if you broke it down into his last 10 starts Vs the Tribe and all the starts before that, they'd look very different.
He's dominated us the last few years.
Much needed quick inning for Ubaldo!

Bury them tonight. Create a buzz around tomorrow's game. This group of youngsters is suddenly playing with confidence. Reminds me of that burgeoning 2004 team when they made that mid-summer run. Same sort of composition to this roster as that club. But thos team has a tandem of FOR starters to go with it.

Even if you just look at the last 3 seasons Verlander has a 4.19ERA against Cleveland which is the second highest ERA against AL opposition for him and he is just 7-6 in that time frame. He also has trouble at The Jake (4.89ERA) where he is 3-4 since 2008.
However he is having a superhuman season.

From the Tigers perspective, that probably doesn't bother them that much since they know they're not going to need a bullpen tomorrow!
I don't know it's usualy feast or famine for us when we face Verlander (11-11 with an ERA near 5 in his career vs Cleveland.) We have mixed success against him. We either get 2 hit or we smack him around like a piñata
I haven't looked up the stats but, I'd hazard a guess that if you broke it down into his last 10 starts Vs the Tribe and all the starts before that, they'd look very different.
He's dominated us the last few years.
Much needed quick inning for Ubaldo!
Just looked it up.
In Verlanders last 10 starts Vs the Indians: -
7-1, 71IP, 47H, 20R/ER, 26BB, 92K, 2.54ERA
And this as well.

That was tough to watch. Sloth looks like a pitcher when he's batting and like Bob Wickman when fielding.
