I think for them to have a good chance they need to sweep. To even stay in the discussion they need two.

That final three-game set does give the Indians a false sense of security that they can be two or three back going into that final week. We know the reality is they need to have a game or two cushion if they want to win the division. A three-game set in Detroit with that on the line will not be a good situation if you need to win all three.

People are putting too much into this.

They went 3-4 on a roadie to two of the best teams in the game and lost all four in the opponent last at bat.

The same thing that hurts them helps them the remainder of the year and that's their collective youth and naivete.

They need to play well. Two wins would be great. Three would be tremendous. 1 wouldn't change things much at all from today.

Perspective. If they pitch well and hit and play good defense they'll be in the race. If they don't they could somehow sweep this series and still not sniff October.

There is that feel to this series isn't there? Its as if they're on the verge of putting it together.

They still have 12 games left against the Tigers this year. Yes, this is only 3 of them but I think they're a psychologically important 3 for the team. If they get swept they are 7 back, and that's it for the team. If they sweep, they are just 1 game back, with a new lease on life.

Gotta at least take 2 out of 3.

Agreed. Losing this series would be Bad News Bears. But I really see this team pulling together. The offense is coming alive, our SP is still strong. If only that damn bullpen can get back on track, and we have a pretty formidable team. I promise nobody would want to play this team in the first round in a short series. Our top 3 SP's I would take over any of the contenders in the AL.

Edit- With the exception on LAA. But I dont think they make the playoffs anyhow. Texas probably wins the West again imo.

It's more about the attitude than the outcome.

If they play it cool, and keep saying "get 'em tomorrow" they'll quickly run out of tomorrows.

I think their youth works for them right now.

Guys like Chsnhl and Kipnis are just playing man. They haven't had time to catch their breath. That might be their advantage. That and the fact I trust the Indians pitching staff more than I do the Tigers' staff up and down.

It's important. But it's not an elimination series IMO. I understand why some people feel differently.

He doesn't have to tag, there's less than 2 outs, if he takes a few steps off the bag, the throw is cut guaranteeing Acab scores. If the throw goes through, he can get to second. Even if he's slow.
