This is a very fun pool. A lot of fun, excitement, and smack talk for 30 bucks. We run three phases each season. Each phase lasts about 50 days and we take a couple week break between phases.

Here are the winners from the last three years, and Phase's I & II this year:

OFFICIAL RULES

Phase II will last 52 days. Starts on Monday, August 8 2011. Last day of selections will be Wednesday, September 28 2011 ... THE LAST DAY OF THE MLB REGULAR SEASON.

The rules are simple. Pick one baseball team each night to simply win their game. You cannot pick the same team twice. And you have to select all 30 teams in baseball one time.

Contest lasts for 52 days. So seeing as how you need to pick every team in baseball one time and one time only, there will be 22 days you don't pick a game. Use those PASS days wisely when there is no strong selection amongst the teams you have left to use. All picks must be time stamped, in this thread, no later than the official start time of the game per MLB.com or else the pick is thrown out. While you don't have to post your picks until the start time of the game you are selecting (example: can post a pick for a 10:05 PM EST game at 10:01) ... you cannot change a posted pick once the days first game is underway. If your team is rained out, you get a PASS for that day and have to select that team for another game in the future.

The winner is the person with the most total wins after the Wednesday, Sept 28 games end. Winning % means nothing. Most total wins. If two people are tied at the end, and one is 22-8, and another is 22-7 (say due to a day #52 rainout) ... that is still a tie. Only category that means anything is total wins.

If everyone makes all their picks, each entrant will have picked exactly 30 games, each team in baseball one time, over a 52 day period. $30 per player, winner take all.

The tiebreaker, once we get there, and if we need it ... will be to pick the winners of every baseball game on the last day of the contest, Wednesday, Sept 28. And note - Sept 28 is both the final day of the contest, AND the tiebreaker day. Any competitors who could potentially be involved in a tie will have to pick the winners of all 15 games that day. And also identify their final Pick 30 selection, if they still have one pick left to make. The second tiebreaker, if needed, is total runs scored by all the teams you selected to win in the final day tiebreaker. Third tiebreaker would be run differential.

By the way, here is an amazing stat to think about. Colorado has lost 16 straight Sunday games (0-16). There last Sunday win was in April, 4 months ago. That is unheard of.

6-6 day to start Phase III. The Rangers were a popular pick and for all intents and purposes this game was over in the 2nd inning as the Rangers jumped on the Mariners. Oatestache started his defense with a come from behind win with the White Sox as the Orioles bullpen could not hold a 6-5 8th inning lead.

JPD looked as if his Padres pick was a good one until Heath Bell imploded losing a 8-6 9th inning lead. What is more disturbing is he was facing bench players and AAA callups due to the Mets recent injuries. 4 players were beaten like a drum in backing the Diamondbacks, losers 9-1 to the worst team in baseball, the Lastros. Hudson was pounded by a bunch of AA & AAA callups as the Lastros had 10 hits through 2 innings. Barmes was the only regular to start for the Lastros.

The field goes 10-7 on Day 2. The Cubs were silenced by the Nationals 3-1 as many players backed Garza and the Cubs. The Indians outlasted the Tigers 3-2 as Detroit left numerous men on base in the extra frames. The Mets rallied late again as they beat the Padres 5-4 - 2nd straight night the Pads bullpen falls apart. The Giants smoked the Pirates 6-0 as Bumgardner looked awesome.

In the game of the night, the Lastros held a 7-1 5th inning lead before melting and losing 11-9 to the Diamondbacks. Many players escaped with a fortunate win. Arizona's comeback marked the largest deficit overcome in their franchise history. The Lastros become a part of history once again.
