You know it's a bad night when they need Durbin to come in and calm things down.

Horrible thing to hear if you're Joe Smith: Chad Durbin did your job better than you. At pitching. In baseball.

I got home in time from grandfather's wake to watch this game.

This is utter bullshit! You cannot be a team that is taken seriously when you cannot hold a 3 zip lead. This team is now 85 percent not likely going to playoffs and a week ago, I would have said 40/60.

We're killing ourselves. Going back to the Baltimore series -- right after the break -- this team should have taken 3/4 from O's; 3 of 4 from Twins; 1 of 2 from ChiSox; 2 of 3 from Royals; 3 of 4 from Boston; and we should be sweeping Texas or at least 2 of 3 since they improbably blew one, too. 14 wins we could have, but instead it's going to be 8 wins. We could be a game up on Detroit and they'd be sweating it out in the Motor City instead of us.

About to be 5 GB (Tigers won today even though FSN - Dallas said otherwise). We're going to have to sweep Detroit and be 2 GB for us to truly get back in it. This team has showed why they're too young to be taken seriously. Tomlin had every right to come out and finish his game, but damn if we'd just stuck Raphy in the 8th. Hindsight is 20/20. Who would have thought Tomlin would start walking people.

We MUST sweep Detroit. If we were a game back, 3-4 on this roadtrip wouldn't have been so bad. The farting around in Baltimore and the 2/3 losses to KC are what's biting us in the ass.

What are the pitching matchups for next week? masterson and Fister on Tues? Wed will be Jimemez and ??? and then Carmona vs. ???. Thank God we don't have to see Verlander.

Oh and thanks KC for the help. Thought those sorry bastards wanted to play spoiler? Well, we just gotta sweep Detroit. We should have swept this damn bunch!

Chance at a 7-0 road trip ends 3-4. With two horrendous losses.

Baseball's such an unfair game. Bullpen's been awesome all year and then completely took a big, steaming shit this week.

Gut check time. We'll see what they're made of on Tuesday.

Odd, because this was the headline right off of the Tigers' home page: final: KC 4, DET 3 Looks like the Royals won the Sunday game to me.

1B Matt LaPorta out with a sore left foot (hit by pitch on Friday night). He's available off bench. Hopes to be recovered by Tuesday.
;-) ;) :thumb up:

Haha. That smells fishy to me. He was able to finish the game Friday, and made a boneheaded play to lose to game for us. That night Acta was obviously not happy with him and his uhhhhhh "throw" to home. Maybe it really is the foot, who knows. But I dont miss him in the lineup.
"Hit by a pitch" my eye. Acta probably stomped on his foot when he got back in the dugout...

Glad I missed this one. Kept glancing at the cellphone screen (Yahoo's Live Sports eats very little battery power) during dinner out. Smiff was imploding as we were leaving. Wow, leading for most of the game and then we get that. Should have gone back and ordered another pint.

If the pen can't hold leads, it's over. They've been the thing keeping the team in the hunt for as long as we have.

OUCH! from the Acta post game presser...

"This was a tough one to take. We had the game won but things fell apart. I am not going to point fingers at the players on this one. I believe in accountability and I take care of team business behind closed doors in my office. I don't believe in embarrassing a player in the public through the media. I will however make an exception in this case due to the heinous blunder that was made. It appears some dumb goof inappropriately started the game thread tonight on TCF and he owns this one. Owns it I tell ya! Breaching well established etiquette like he did is akin to bunting for a base hit when a no hit bid is still alive. If i ever run into this Kingpin74 dufus he will be sorry he met me."

If we can't laugh about the loss we will go crazy. Now it is time to punch the tigers in the mouth and start winning series' against the divsion rivals down the stretch. It's not over!

My mistake. Guess I have been out of it. One sight I looked at had Detroit beating KC on Sunday. Obviously, it was wrong (not like I wouldn't believe that one).

Also, didn't know this was a 4 game set. Thought it was just three. Verlander on Thursday beats facing him on Tuesday.

Really tough loss but one bright spot is the performance of Tomlin who shut out the Rangers for 7 innings. That's a hell of a performance. Carmona and Carrasco also pitched well on this trip. If we get all five starters pitching the way they have lately and the bullpen doesn't have any more hiccups, this team is going to win a lot of games down the stretch, especially since the schedule is loaded with mediocre teams.
