Time to see how Kipnis and Chisenhall handle a knuckleballer.

Not surprised to see LaPorta on the bench. I can only imagine what he looks like flailing at knuckleballs.

Pretty much the same as he does flailing away at a breaking ball down and away, just slower.

I'm fairly certain that if he played against a knuckleballer he'd wind up on the DL with a strained oblique the next day. Or a separated shoulder. Or whiplash.

LaPorta was 2-4 with a HR the last time he faced Wakefield.

Might be the only guy he can hit.

Preventing Poove's thread. Drastic measures needed to be taken, quickly.

This game isn't quite a "must win" but I also can't see this team climbing out of a 5 game hole. And they're more then halfway there.

You'd think they'd put him in the lineup. Weird.

At least it's cool and not too humid...I know knuckleballers like it hot, humid and still.

It's a managing mistake that inning. Crawford has hit us well, but he's still a .240 hitter with a .280 OBP this year. Two outs two runners in scoring position you take your chance with Crawford rather than Ortiz. We walked Ortiz in the same situation in the 8th inning last night and it paid off with no runs scoring.

They put Marson in the lineup because Carrasco always get caught by Marson. And I would rather want Santana at 1B than laporta

I love you guys and gals. I come here to the game thread to see what the vibe is before I check on the score. We care so much that being down 2-0 has us saying game/season over! Haaa I'm the same way- it just cracks me up.

My kids like Nascar, so I've sat and watched a few races. That is to me what baseball is to most normal people- something to follow, maybe while doing something else (like, I don't know... napping for instance).
It's relaxing. An actual pastime.

Indians baseball is so much more of an emotional investment.

Problem is you aren't supposed to lay down on your sun room futon with a cat while listening. When I dozed off we were down 2-0. When I woke up we were tied! Then the BoSux went up. I'm thinking I need a cat and a futon again...

Had to review what happened during the top of the fourth. Hafner was on 3rd with NO ONE out and NO ONE could bring him in???? Sheesh. If we lose because of that one run I'll blame Carlos/Fuko/Kearns. Kearns. Bleh! But with the way Carrasco's been pitching - and the way Wake is looking so not 45 - I was sure we were sunk from the get-go. When I make predictions like that I love nothing better than to be wrong!

He does have a bad shoulder. Apparently from carrying a piano around the basepaths.

I think Manny has had an eye on the future this season as he pushes the starters perhaps a little futher than we'd like. He's testing the rivets to see how far they can go under pressure.

Bringing Sipp in with a runner on is an automatic RISP situation. I cannot fathom how a lefty can't hold a god damn runner.

When was the last time this team went on a REAL winning streak? May? I recall the end of the AZ series thru 3/4 Reds games being the best stretch since May 23. Pathetic.

WOW. Masterson is pretty much averaging 7 2/3 innings per outing. Very nice! Anyone who thinks Tomlin has been the ace is badly mistaken, ala Rick Suttcliffe.

They've been hard pressed to go more than two in a row since then. But come on, cut the kids some slack. We've got a ton of rookies playing ML ball, our vets have been hurt or sucky, I'm surprised we aren't in 4th place and fighting the Royals for the bottom spot with our run of luck. And just think how good they should be NEXT year! ;-) ;)

HaHa! Salty strikes out 3 times. I know, our batter struck out four. But there are times I think they should just do better since they are right behind the strike zone for roughly half of the game! You THINK they would be spot-on with pitch location. (Yeah, you can tell I've played a lot of ball ...not.)

4 back if we don't win this one, and in danger of dropping under .500 tomm for first time since we were 1-2.
