And Round One goes to (trumpet please) The TRIBE! Winner!!! Boy this is fun when we win, isn't it. Sure makes the disagreement I had with my Red Sux neighbor this evening a non-issue right now! Go Tribe!

I like this Indians team better than the one we have seen for the past 2 1/2 months. I hope they hang around for 3 months.

Droobs isn't the best player in the AL, but I believe he is the most valuable to his team. This team is 10 games under withiut him.

Not really. He seemed to be challenging the hitters. No-nonsense. Being up by 4, he was doing his job. I would be concerned if he was getting behind in counts and walking guys.

Native Massholes are worse...no matter WHO they root for. The most obnoxious person I have met in our 11 years of exile up here in MA is a Worcester, MA native who roots for the skakees. If he was on fire I wouldn't pour my last "imported from Cleveland", brought back from our last trip to our Motherland Great Lakes beer on him if it would save his life. Well, I might look for a Sam Adams....

For the record, Sam Adams beer is brewed in Kentucky.

Also, "Manny being Manny" was not coined in Boston. Mike Hargrove first used the phrase.

Can't be too worried about CP. Obese transvestite AIDS-infested prostitues are getting more steady work than he is. Let him throw 3 of 4 or so and we'll see where he is.

Fenway doesn't smell as bad as Wrigley at least. I love Wrigley, don't get me wrong, but it smells like heated urine mixed with Old Style and Old Style Light along with aerosoled shame at all moments.

Because the indians are up?

Or, wait: are they discussing Derek Jeter? He hit a home run for his 3000th hit, in case you did not know that.

ESPN and my Guide on Time Warner says this game should be on .

If the game is also on STO, it's always blacked out on ESPN in STO's viewing area.

I'm from upstate NY though so I'm not sure why its not on.

You might be too close to NESN's viewing area then.

Blackout error? Heard of that happening before many times. Thinking that should be Yankees TV territory

Here you go, this is from 2009, but it still should be the same

MLB Blackout Map

Image

The light blue is Yankees, and red is Boston, if you are in upstate NY you should be in YES and SNY and MSG territory not NESN

Although, now I see it is outdated for my area because it shows that I get Atlanta/St. Louis, but, this has not been the case for a few years as now I receive Atlanta/Cincinnati on my local Regional Sports Nets(Sportsouth/FS South) with Atlanta getting priority over Cincinnati

Quite quietly, Ezekiel Carrera hasn't been a disaster offensively. Surprisingly, he's been shaky out in CF, which is his strength. But he can be a nice fourth OF.

That lineup we put out there tonight...my favorite one. Kip in the 2 hole is definitely going to work out. Kid's going to have a lot of confidence after 3-hitting the best AL team in their park.

I still say we need to find a rh bat that's affordable. Just a rental.

If we can sneak into October, I like our shot at a short series at Fenway. Jimenez vs. Beckett; Masterson vs. Lester; back home with Tomlin (who is the tits at Progressive) vs. Bedard; Carmona vs. Lackey; back to Fenway - rematch of game one. Buchholtz's situation is such a blow that I ought to erase this and talk about a short series with NYY.

There is hope. If we can split this road trip, we're going to be just fine.

Except in a short series (even the 7-game ones) you usually see a 3-man rotation. Unless Baldy tanks (man I hope not!!!) we wouldn't be using Fausto in the rotation...and we wouldn't see Lackey in the Red Sux one.

No way Fausto would go in that series. After Tomlin it would go back to Ubaldo. With the schedule there is no need to go to a 4 man rotation.

Great game, even though the RS were hitting rockets off Tomlin all night. Bullpen came in and got the job done, and they got the key hits from AsCab and Clutchnis.

Oh yeah, Watt's back.

That may or may not be true. It really depends on how the schedule is set up and whether there are sufficient off days to give each pitcher his accustomed 4 days rest.
Recall in the 2007 division series against the Yankees, in fact the Indians used four starters (CC, Fausto, Jake, and Byrd).

The #1 seed gets to pick the day they start on. One series will require using 4 pitchers. The other gets an extra off day allowing for a 3 man rotation.

yes but that was when they had 4 competent starters. I am assuming they will do everything they can not to have to put Fausto in yankee stadium or Fenway or even use a 4 man rotation if they can help it. I would also imagine that they will try to throw Ubaldo and Masterson as many times as they can.

You need 4 starters in post season. I still have nightmares about going with that 3 man rotation in 1999 and pitching Colon and Nagy on 3 days rest with a 2-0 lead against BOSOX!!! (although I think the post where one of the series you can go with 3 is correct. I never want to see 3 days rest ever again.)

Well, statistically, pitchers (even great ones) who come back on short rest in the playoffs perform miserably. There have been a few exceptions in the recent 20 years, such as Beckett. For the Indians Hershiser and Jaret Wright did well on short rest. But for every Beckett or Wright, there are 20 Bartolo Colons (remember his memorable performance on short rest against Boston?).

As Pup said, the #1 seed will have the option. I can't imagine bringing any of our guys back on short rest.
If, in fact, we play Boston, the first two games would be in Boston...I would be assuming that Ubaldo and Masterson would pitch there. The next two would be in Cleveland, and Fausto could pitch there.

If the Indians make the post season, the only reason would be Carmona would surpass Tomlin as the number 3 starter! I'm not saying that to put down Tomlin or anything, but simply if they are in post season, Carmona will be the number 3 at worst. He will have to pitch that well for us to make post season I believe.

I know, I wasn't picking at anyone individually, or even at the forum as a whole. I just love the emotional roller coaster we are riding this season.

I'll take the swing of emotions from dispair to elation anyday. Very much prefer that to the seasonlong dispair and general indifference we had the past couple of years.

I say a 4 man rotation in a short series is the way to go...no matter how much rest because if you win, you then have the long series. Jimenez/Masterson and 4 starts in less than two weeks? Yipe. I see both sides and yes, I wanna keep Carmona off the road schedule as much as we can. I'd throw him at home in almost any circumstances (because we're going to play two games there and I doubt we could take Boston out in 4 games). He kept the Yanks at bay in '07. I'd let him and Tomlin be the two definites at Progressive. Let's say we beat Boston and have to play Texas. I'd almost go with Carrasco in game two or a game 6 if necessary. He's been awesome on the road, but right now I will take Carmona over Cookie. Cookie needs a shrink before a playoff start.

Yes, this is all ifs. It's nice to dream and think ahead as a fan. I think there's a 40 percent chance of October in Cleveland but that's very high considering where we thought we'd be. If y'all recall, we had SOME struggles in '07 with the bats and then when Cabrera took over for Barfield, we got much better. I hope Kipnis has that same effect. The team I saw last night, Lackey or not, was bad ass. Keep in mind that we also bum rushed their two hottest back end guys, too.

If, if, if...we'll see how big or small that if is going to be in that jetstream in Arlington on Friday night.

Strongly disagree, Scarmbler on your Tomlin vs. Fausto standpoint. Tomlin is the ballsiest pitcher we have. He is gold at Progressive and would be the PERFECT game three starter because I bet we'd be looking at a 1-1 at best scenario going into game 3. You want the ball in Carmona's hands then? Carmona sucks in cold weather...will throw 90 pitches by the 6th inning and will have to become similar to his '07 form to even be considered ahead of Tomlin. Tomlin will throw strikes and keep his defense off the field as much as possible. Pretty much the exact opposite of Carmona. Even when Carmona is on his A game, he's going to throw more pitches than Tomlin. He has to. Now a game 4 down 2-1 or up 2-1, I think Carmona is probably our man unless we turnover and hand it back to Ubaldo or Bat.
IF this scenario occurs in October, you cannot put our winningest pitcher at the optional back end of the rotation ala a Ken Hill. He needs to have the ball in his hands when the series goes back to Cleveland. You'd feel more comfortable with Carmona than Tomlin there? :hic:

My point was is I think if we actually do make the post season it will be because Carmona really steps up and starts pitching great. If he pitches like pre DL Fausto I can't imagine we'll be in post season. It's simple really, it's the feeling that if both Fausto and Tomlin end the season with 4.30 ERAs (not likely) I know which one I'd want going first in post season. And his name isn't Josh. My stating what I'm statins is like me stating after the Browns go 13-3 who do I want them to face in the playoffs this year.

You need 4 starters in post season. I still have nightmares about going with that 3 man rotation in 1999 and pitching Colon and Nagy on 3 days rest with a 2-0 lead against BOSOX!!! Im not neccessarily advocating going to a 3 man rotation. Just that in the division series if at all possible I would imagine Throwing Ubaldo and Masterson twice if needed give us the best chance over Carmona.

If they can figure out a way to skip Starter #4 in the postseason ( no matter who it is) without going on three days rest I think they will do it.

Hopefully Boston will get cocky and feel a 4 man rotation will suit them better in their series.

You gotta get there first. You can't set up a rotation to try yo win a series you arnt even in yet, and the best way to do that is if you can have in our case 2 best pitchers pitch twice except on 3 days rest in which case they need to be roided up first.

We have a better shot of winning a short series if Masterson and Ubaldo go twice.

Dudes. If it is the series with an extra day of rest, you can use the 3 man rotation without anyone pitching on short rest. So eliminate the short rest aspect.

The only higher seed that would pick that is the Yankees.
