If you'd told me the Pirates and Indians would be in a bidding war at the trade deadline four months ago, I'd have assumed you were on acid.

Where's our move going to come from if the Pirates get Ludwick? Right now, that's what's happening.

Yep, me too...and Antonetti and Huntington have to be on acid to be getting into a bidding war for Ludwick. Who seriously would want him that badly?

Waiver trade deadline isn't for a couple weeks yet. Trades can still be completed, they're just a little more difficult.

I don't buy that we're in a bidding war. Padres probably trying to drive up price because of reports from Jonathan Mayo that we didn't want to give up what they wanted.

I bet we're completely out on him unless he's a waiver deal.

That should have been a triple, but Francouer was out there, so Zeke assumed no.

Pronkers can tie it with one big swing.

Outside of that game tying 2B, Hafner hasn't done a whole lot since the walkoff GS.

Now would be a good time.

There's a serious issue with home plate umpire consistency. It has to be league-wide. It's happened in every series this year and with these guys rotating, it is happening everywhere. I know there's no competitive advantage to any one team, but man, these guys behind the plate are awful.

No wonder offense is down so much in baseball. Nobody knows what's a strike and what isn't.

Still only the eighth inning. That's a big run. Still, nice to get it at least tied up here with having used Hafner and Chiz as pinch hitters. Running out of bullets.

And, yes, this strike zone is atrocious.

If you can't even reach it, how can it possibly be a strike?

There's no possible chance at hitting it when you swing unless you throw your bat.

At least that strike 3 to Brantley was legit.

It's a good thing that extra run that Carmona gave up didn't turn out to be important. Otherwise someone might be able to second guess Acta. ::doh::

Maybe like the Pomeranz case...a 2010 draftee. That, or they couldn't quite decide on which guy and the Padres get a list to pick from.

Did Sipp seriously just shake Santana off TWICE after Santana went to the mound? Are you kidding me?

How many fucking fastballs down the heart of the plate do you need to throw in one AB?

I was a little surprised to see Sipp still out there in the ninth, having pitches yesterday, and with Perez, Pestano, and Smith fresh.
