People worrying about the 2015 Indians more than the 2013 Indians, please stop.

Five year plans suck. If you can get Ubaldo Jimenez for 2.3 years, you do it if you have any confidence in your ability to draft more Pomeranzes in the future.

Choo is gone soon. Hafner will be gone. Stocking arms for 2016 is so far-sighted that it is short-sighted.

Ubaldo doesn't need to be potty-trained. He's a full grown ace. Pomeranz would need four or five years to become an ace. It took CC Sabathia six years to do it.

We're not talking about 2016 here. This is a new era of the pitcher, unlike the steroid era when CC first came up. These guys are a different breed, and this is a different time. They'll have much more early success than you think.

Hey, whatever happened to Jimenez, who the Rockies were supposedly dangling. Going big with a stud who has team-controlled years left on a reasonable contract is something that a small market team should pursue- if their window is opening. This is not a ridiculous notion, a la Beltran. They have the currency. If Jimenez is a true ace, crown jewels should be considered if the situation is right.

I was just thinking last night and today, so do not take this too seriously...but what if:


The Yankees are desperate for starting pitching for the playoffs and they know it. Their staff is without a doubt the weakest after CC. Hughes and Burnett just suck.

Now I do not know a whole lot about waivers after the deadline and clearing them and so forth, but what if we could arrange a trade with the Yanks for Gardner? He's another lefty, true...but he's .360 OBP with 33 steals. Or do we not need Garnder beacuse we have a Brantley, a Carrera, and a china doll Sizemore? Do the Yanks have anyone else they would trade us? A healthy Eric Chavez who is never healthy?

I guess we're done with moves. I just know NYY NEEDS a 3 guy in their rotation and Carmona, after missing out at the deadline, might be someone they'd want. It was reported that there were some teams inquiring.

Gardner would have to get past on waivers every AL team ranked lower than the Tribe in the league in the standings.

Not going to happen and the Yanks wouldn't trade him anyway regardless of the waiver deadline.

I doubt he'd fall to us but worth a look to replace Kearns

Reed Johnson is a candidate to be traded this month.
Batting .349/.389/.566 while making less than $1 million this season, there is no way Johnson would clear waivers, but the Cubs would more than likely be able to work out a deal with whomever puts in the winning claim. Johnson, who turns 35 in December, has said he would like to return to the Cubs in 2012.

The Mets were far from the only team interested in Mike Minor at the July 31st trade deadline. The Indians offered the Drew Pomeranz to the Braves in exchange for Minor, thinking that with Atlanta trying to acquire Hunter Pence at the time, the Astros may prefer Pomeranz to Minor. Cleveland would get a more Major League-ready arm in return, but the Braves had no intention of dealing Minor.
