Seriously, what the fuck does this guy bring? This reminds me of when we aquired Wil Cordero in the stretch run. Why don't we just see if the Astros will trade us Jason Michaels? Or better yet, let the 100th fan through the gate play right field.

Max Ramirez was only "highly regarded" because the Indians system was barren at the time.
The point is, there isn't a ton of substantive difference between a 40 year old Lofton and Fukudome other than Lofton's cult status. They're both middling deals with modest upside.
Let's just hope that if the Tribe makes the playoffs that Fukudome is fast enough to score from third base.

And because he was a Top 100 prospect.

Max Ramirez was not a top 100 prospect when we dealt him.

My second thought is " of course we didn't give up much. Despite popular thought, we have a pretty good front office."
We head back up to our umbrella setup and my wife desires to head back to the room so she can lock our son in his cage for a few hours. I tell her to bring the iPad down when she comes back. And more beer.
So the I see what we gave up, and I'm perfectly happy to get a serviceable, if underwhelming, major leqgue outfielder for two meh prospects. It's a good trade.
As I lay on my towel and listen to the ocean, my third thought is "wow, this iPad is pretty sweet. I can't believe I'm hooked up to the ether out on this fantastic beach. "
I come to check out the inevitable thread and find out that I should not be doing cartwheels. My fourth thought is "damn, I can't believe there are people who think that anyone who doesn't hate this perfectly reasonable trade are 'doing cartwheels'.".
How can anyone who was alive 2 weeks ago for the Valbuena in the outfield experiment not see how this helps us?
Look, the Indians are not going to make the playoffs because they traded for Fukudome. But, the Indians are not going to make/miss the playoffs because they trade for pence ludwick or anyone else. Sure those guys would help, but the Playwrs responsible for whether or not we see playoffs this season are already on the roster.
My fifth thought is "those girls must be at least 18 because otherwise I am a dirty old man...which I am clearly not."
My sixth thought is "e0y2e3 should be here. It's really nice out here. If he was here maybe he wouldn't be such a miserable prick. Dude needs a vacation."
Did I mention I'm on the beach?

Yeah, he's a gash-stopper who won't be here next year if he doesn't contribute, but I feel a helluva lot better about him than Kearns and Buck.
We're CLEARLY not done making moves. No one is stupid enough to actually believe this is the entire solution, so let's just sit back and enjoy the deadline. But seriously...you whiners about giving up a kid who just started shaving...seriously, go pull your mini-fan out of your fanny pack and sit up in the Canton bleachers and cool off while you yell out 22 year old's names.

We gave up nothing for him, and got the Cubs to eat most of his salary. The guy gets on base at a good clip, and plays good defense. Good move. Its possible we can resign him in the offseason for a year or two, and he would still be an upgrade over anything we have close( with the exception of maybe Weglarz....maybe...). I think its also clear that we are not done making moves. I suspect we are also going after Ludwick or Crisp.

Lol,what? How could getting Fukudome be a step in getting Kuroda?
step 1: trade for Fukudome
Step2: kidnap Kuroda's family so he has to go along with everything we say.
Step 3. Switch Kuroda and Fukudome
Step 4: tell the world we have made Fukudome into a pitcher. It will work because all Asians look the same.
Step 5: profit

Dude, who in the Hell are you even directing this towards? I didn't see anyone complaining so fervently about him, let alone "whining" or doing anything that would ilicit this type of response. Go back to your video games and see if you can get the computer to accept a trade for Albert Pujols.

I'm directing my comment at people who hate this trade and act as if we've done a cardinal sin. I'm directing this at subtle farm system hounds like YOU. You hate to give up a guy playing A ball. You hipster down on the farm know it all, you. And there are plenty of whiners in this tread. They may not be whining because of who we're giving up, but there are plenty of screamers who must have been happy with an outfield full of fail. In any case, this is a good move. John Hart says so. So, it is written. Let there be FUKUDOME. And let it be good.
And I want to get Albert P and A Rod tonight on my team to go with the staff I have put together on MLB2K11, but the wife is demanding that I give her some attention tonight. Right in the middle of the trade deadline. GRRRRRRRR.

Jesus was a notoriously horrible hitter. Wouldn't swing at anything in anger, even worse in a bench-clearing brawl sitting all smug in the dugout turning the other cheek.
And the sandals provided TERRIBLE traction in the OF. Guy couldn't go back on the ball at all.
Helluva an arm though. And easily worth the two guys the Tribe gave up because dude would pack the park full.
