Wheeler and $ is roughly akin to Pomz and $ from us. Would anyone here really want to deal Pomz for a Beltran rental? I wouldn't.

Also, the Astros reportedly turned down an offer of Singleton, Cosart and a 3rd player for Hunter Pence. That means that Kipnis, Pomeranz and Gio Soto wouldn't be enough to pry Pence away from Houston, and that's waaaayyy too much to offer in the 1st place.

The difference of course is that the Giants are defending champs and have one of the best staffs in MLB and are contenders for the title again

The jury is still out on the Indians

A pitching prospect for an all star with a big bat to make a run at two in a row makes perfect sense

....but, I'm a Giants fan and love the move

If you're in the Indians position no.

If you're in the Giants position you can't do it fast enough.

The player is akin but not the situation. If we had a rotation of Sabathia, Lee, Matserson, Tomlin, and Alex White, then it wouldnt look as bad if we would deal Pomeranz. But I wouldnt have made teh deal either if I was Cleveland in this situation.

The Giants rotation is loaded so they can afford to deal 1 guy from a position of Depth.

Agree 100%, LP. Great move for the Giants, but I see no reason for the Indians to have even made the offer. Wonder if Pomz was the player that was in the deal that Antonetti said was on the table?
