3. Charles Johnson, DE, Carolina Panthers: Johnson's 11½-sack 2010 season might make people think he's a one-hit wonder, but consider the circumstances. Johnson played on the other side of Peppers during his first three seasons and registered 10 sacks total. Often, defensive ends on the other side of superstar ends get the sacks because the star gets double-teamed. That Johnson had a career year with Peppers gone says something.

Leading suitor: Carolina. Dark horse: Cleveland.

Ray Edwards seems to be a more proven commodity, like Johnson he is also 26, but should come at a stepper price.

Holmgren says they have specific targets.

He mentions WR,DL,and CB when asked where are they going.

Interesting he didn't mention OT. Tyson Clabo is on my wish list..If I can't get him I will take Jeremy Clary..

DL I will take a resign of Mitchell and signing Kiwanuka...Maybe Raheem Brock...Barry Cofield...Anthony Hargrove

My list is way longer...Browns over 30 million under the cap and the cash floor for 2011 is 99% of the cap number....they will have no choice but to sign a lot of players and resign some of their own...plus extend some players

Why would Dane Sanzenbacher sign with Bengals when they already have Shipley? Doesn't seem like the best career move to me...

Agree. Unless his agent also reps Julian Edelman and is banking on Welker-lite to get hurt that makes little sense.

hold up, in what world do we live in where starting as a UDFA matters. That depth chat is very weak and he has a chance to prove himself.

The real one he is not getting reps over these guys..Normally UDFA players get OTAs and off-season workouts to impress...he gets none of that..you can only earn so many reps in drills..He has to pass these guys on the depth chart in 4 weeks....possible but highly unlikely

Plus they drafted another WR besides A.J. in the 6th round. If they thought he was better they would have picked him instead.

My point is simple about Dane... He is going to be a niche WR in the NFL (slot) why not strategically pick a team with no defined player in that role? Shipley is clearly that Player in Cincy...

In a year when reps will be limited I think he could have found a better situation...Maybe the reports are not even accurate about him going there....we will see in the morning.

Exactly. For Lil Dane there is one spot on the field. He's not lining up wide and stretching defenses.

Troy Weatherhead (QB, Hillsdale(its in Michigan)) 6’3” 218lbs with a 5.15 40yd dash. Conference player of the year and Div II leader in passing efficiency (76.9%)Offense was built around him and he crushed all school records, setting them mostly in his junior year.

LB Paul Posluszny or Barret Ruud
RT Tyson Clabo or OL Marshal Yanda
WR Lance Moore or WR Steve Breaston
DE Jacob Ford or DE Anthony Hargrove (not a fan of the drug issues though) (Hate Ray Edwards, not a big Charles Johnson fan either)
S Donte Whitner or S Dashon Goldson

Most likely cannot pull off these guys but I like these targets rather than the more "known" FAs. Just not enough pass rushing value that's why I really like us going all out for Ford vs. the bigger names when every other team is going after them.

Believe me, I'm not in love with him...but we need a few vets. Rookie Wrs are notorious slow starters in years with normal off-seasons, let alone this year's mess. We have zero leadership in our WR corps.

Heckert says the Browns are bringing in 23 UDFAs on Wednesday....That is a ton..

My favorites so far are the LBs Alex Wujciak and Sidney Tarver.....Wujciak has had over 130 tackles in each of the last two seasons and has really good size...Tarver is a really really good athlete also has good size.

I would LOVE Eric Weddle, I just assumed that SD would never let him go. Then again they just threw some money around already at some guys that are lesser priorities. So he might just be in play after all.

As for Edwards, I hate the guy. Classic big splash, little production. That's why I want Ford so much, I think he's the perfect up-and-comer type player.

That seems like a lot for Edwards to me, no? I've no doubt that the market will pay him that, but for a guy who lined up opposite Jared Allen and those big space-cloggers on the d-line in Minny, I think you have to take his #'s with a grain of salt.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you I pulled an Askew and watched a full season of Minny defensive football or anything, but I can't imagine the guy faced very many doubleteams.
