So what is Casspi e0? I know you catch some Kings games cuz of Evans. Just looking at his stats, bio, and from what I can remember he has a good shot and can rebound. Defense? Shouldn't we be getting a 2nd rounder (1st!!!!???) thrown in...??? Though he was only picked a handful of slots lower then Hickson.

IMO with TT and Samuels Hickson is... Well I'm just not that effected by the move, and it takes from an area of depth to plug an area of weakness.

Obvious need move as Hickson even w/ his warts still has a higher upside than Omri.

IMO, both are best served off the bench but Casspi is a blue collar 6-8 rotation guy and Hickson can be an effective game changer as an athletic scorer off the bench and if used correctly.

Casspi had every chance to lock down a starting job w/ the Kings last year and just couldn’t do it, resulting in the dumbest draft day trade in ages and your favorite player ever Johnny Salmons moving to Sac-town.

Deal is meh all around but a draft pick should be thrown in. Ideally a lottery protected first from the Kings.

This also means Jason Thompson is more than just on the market in Sac as no one needs him and JJ.

That said, expect Casspi to become a fan favorite, as blue collar a player as you will find. Always on the floor and always hustling. But ideally should be coming off the bench.

The first round pick acquired from Sacramento is lottery-protected in 2012 (1-14). The pick is then protected in 2013 (1-13), 2014 (1-12) and 2015-2017 (1-10). If the pick is not conveyed by 2017, then Sacramento will convey its own 2017 second round draft pick to the Cavaliers protected (56-60).

I liked this deal until I found out there was full lottery protection in 2012. They should have maxed out at top 7-8 protection. This probably ends up being something like the 9th pick in 2014, thought Hickson had a little more value than that.

Whoops, all I saw was lotto in '12 and top 10 in '13. Received bad info. This is awful, Sacto may not be out of the top 10 for 5 years. Does this mean that if it isn't conveyed by 2017, the second round pick replaces the first rounder?

Ridiculous. Chris Grant is getting taken to the cleaners in any negotiation that doesn't involve the Clippers (and even that one was basically writing a check and being blessed when a 2.8% chance came through). First he takes Thompson 4 spots above his value and has nothing to show for it now this. He trades one of our only assets (who has a very low NBA salary) before the lockout and a potential hard cap and gets an extremely average forward and what could easily be a 2017 SECOND ROUND PICK. God forbid they ever get a fucking professional to run this team.

Meh, no need to freak out.

If they get a 10-15 first in a couple years the deal is fine.

If they end up getting a 2nd or nothing that sucks.

But JJ Hickson isn't exactly a huge asset.

They took too much protection on this one and got too little in the last deal. Meh.

Not the best deal but not worth flipping out.

Watching this team try to score next year is gonna be hilarious though.

I suppose there are good odds of them at least winning 35-40 games and getting out of the top 10 before 2017. But even then, that's way off in the future and you're usually supposed to be compensated for those years you're sacrificing.

And Casspi is by no means a bad player. I just don't know why you'd cash out for a middling/low-ceiling return like this before a great unknown like the lockout. Hickson obviously has some major flaws but his salary was low and I think his age/numbers were still intriguing to a few teams (I know better because I watch him nightly but many NBA execs don't). I guess I'm still more mad about the draft and the general incompetence that the franchise continues to exhibit.

His salary floor, with slight improvement this season has to be 5yr@around 8 million? You got a lower ceiling guy you control for another 2 years, at a position of need. Said guy is also coming from a dysfunctional team?

There is alot of young talent on that King's team, but damn they are all gonna want the ball, and Jimmer is your PG???
