I'm a casual watcher, but just like last night I find myself enthralled wondering why I don't watch it more often. Great episode for sure.

Jeopardy? That seems to be a smart show.

And for some, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? would qualify.

Loved the Paintball 2.0 version of Leon'e spaghetti Westerns and can't wait for the conclusion. I think I loved it more than the original paintball episode just for Fort Hawthorne having the dancing woman nerd and then the dancing guy nerd for Jeff (you know, because he's gay).

I still maintain that Parks and Rec is funnier but it's definitely an apples/oranges argument as both are awesome for very different reasons. The home run streak Parks & Rec has been on is reaching Ruthian proportions. It's just been A+ episode week after week this season, especially after the first 6 which were taped something like 18 months ago. Every one onward from the Harvest Festival episode has been tremendous. Ken Tremendous in fact...

FWIW: I chose my wording carefully....

Both are hilarious, P & R is Funnier and Community is Smarter

I mean I skipped all other TV since the playoffs began for the most part but nothing will stop me from watching these two.

Nothing.

I hope Michael Scott leaving that shitty show makes people start watching one of them, because if NBC ever gets viewers both will be canned.

And The A+ Streak of P & R is unreal.

As is Communities ability to be a completely different show every third week.

Just mind boggling how awesome they are.

I remember seeing all of the pregnant chick stuff during that episode. I had to keep rewinding it to show my wife.

Just finished A Fist Full of Paintballs. This show is so fucking good. There's really nothing like it.

The last show that I thought was under appreciated that I liked as much as I like Community was Better Of Ted. I don't really want to compare the two because they are nothing alike and Community is clearly better. But BoT made me laugh my ass off and I'm pretty sure I was the only person on the face of the earth that watched it, which is kind of the feeling I got watching Community last year.

Now, Community seems to have found an audience. Bot never made it that far.

I did get to see both episodes of P&R though, and enjoyed them (as usual). I actually enjoyed Pohler in the 2nd episode last night.

Honestly, for my money Community, P & R, Mad Men and Breaking Bad are the best of the best of TV right now and nothing is changing that.

Showing like the Killing can show promise after the first few but just can't keep up.

And all of the comparisons between Community and classic Simpsons this year were dead nuts on, as was proven by the use of virtually the entire Community universe of characters last night.

I thought part 2 was a letdown compared to the pure greatness that was part 1. No idea why they veered off into a Star Wars parody for half the episode though the ending was better.

Parks & Rec brought the usual amount of awesomesauce; not one bad episode yet this season. And if we're doing Simpsons comparisons, Pawnee is definitely Springfield. Can't get enough of Jean Ralphio.

There are the same amount of characters in them and Community has the pop-culture angle of the Simpsons, plus the theme episode thing.

And the ending was what clinched it last night, although Part 1 was better. That said Part 1 was an all-timer for them.

As for P & R, I thought the first was one of the funniest ever and the second got way to Ben + Poehler for me.

My only complaint this season was how little the writers gave Britta. I know it's hard to do with an ensemble cast, but pretty much everyone in the group got some major story arc... except Britta. I don't mind the extra attention given to the Annie character, I just hope we get more Britta storylines next season. Especially cause she's my favorite. Britta for the WIN!

I love Aziz Ansari, his CC stand up was one of the better ones i've seen in a long time. But I just cannot get into P&R, i've tried, I like some of the chracters, but it just doesn't do it for me. Amy Poelher just annoys me.

Actually..same with me, to a T.

It's the one major block from me trying to enjoy it. And agreed, Aziz is brilliant, stumbled on his standup purely on accident last year and was blown away.

It's a damn shame too, because I really dig Michael Schur's work (FJM was awesome, as were some of the eps he wrote for the office), it's just Amy Poehler is that one major block for me.

Amy Poehler is amazing. Without her there isn't even a show.

And eye, Pawnee is definitely Springfield. Parks & Rec has a crazy cast of town residents that mirror Springfield while Community just has weird community college students that every sitcom about college life has (aside from Magnitude.... POP! POP!).

Really?

1) you are missing the fundamental nature of the shows in terms of being crazy criteria on pop-culture and society re: Community and the Simpsons

and

2) you are insane if you think characters like Leonard, Starburns, The Dean, Magnitude, etc are in every sitcom about college life. The only good Sitcom about college life ever was Undeclared and to say the stylistic difference is miles is not doing it justice. The college is nothing more than a backdrop in Community, and Harmen will tell you as much.

Fact is Community is the new version of the Simpsons in terms of societal critiques and building the an absurdly large crazy community. Parks and Rec may have a similar community but it is and will remain a show done in the style of The Office. Just better. Way better.

And if there was a show called "Ron Swanson" that was 12 hrs long, I'd watch every min of it. Guy is already one of my all-time favorite TV carachters.

Almost anything the Russo brothers are involved with is funny and smart. Sometimes too smart for people which is the reason Arressted Development got axed. Too many people were not smart enough for that humor.

Have you checked out their latest offering? Happy Endings on ABC Wednesday nights. IMHO I think it is funnier than Community

He's also really neurotic which you can tell by reading the AV Club article. Glad to see he's blocking out the critics and fans. Basic Rocket Science and Messianic Myths are way better than he's giving them credit for even with his raised expectations for them before they aired. Also really interesting to hear he's not gonna milk the college thing beyond its last drop and that it's possible for there to be a show after Greendale (even if I dunno how they'd make it work).

By the by, that alternate arc for Chang is mad fucked up. Love the show's absurd elements but that's some batshit craziness.

Paul Rudd's character on Parks & Rec this week was classic.

Parks & Rec > Community

Now and forever. Even with everybody reminiscing about the awesome Community episodes, Parks & Rec just keeps cranking out winner after winner. Unprecedented streak going back to the beginning of last season. The Model U.N. episode was an instant classic.

None of this takes away from the fact that I still miss the hell out of Community. This is the darkest timeline.

Paul Rudd's character is actually the first thing I would put on last years level this season. P and R has fallen into a life and cut B+ run. The Amy and Ben stuff is too much too often now, Lowe is getting repetitive and the Andy/April relationship not being used beyond side show C plot.

Very good season, but not nearly the A+ streak of last year

And I openly admit Community has been a crazy roller coaster this year itself.

I just would never, in a million years, run this seasons P and R against last years.

Lowe is repetitive but they seem to be using him less than last year now that he and Ben aren't working in close proximity. I think the Amy and Ben stuff is fine, just a natural progression of their characters rather than a quick, forced, relationship like most sitcoms that aren't named The Office. I still can't get enough of Andy and April. This past episode was a perfect example with them going to all the doctor's offices in one week, culminating in Andy failing the eye test (coffee mug, middle finger, squiggly, squiggly, squiggly) followed by April: "Oh my god, you drove us here!". I'd say this season has been an A- compared to the A+ of last season.

I would go B/B+ to an A, but it has been good.

It's just getting predictable, too emotional and losing the fringe characters like April and Ron beyond hitting up slapstick bullshit with them.

It is season 2 again to me and that isn't an insult. Still funnier than Community consistently but still not as "smart."
