From the Sprint Football app on my phone: Phil Taylor was disciplined twice at Penn State, released from his scholarship after being involved in an on-campus fight in 2008. Consistently fought off double teams and is great against the run. Considered a 3 down lineman if he can improve his stamina, which some believe he can do through basic conditioning. He had a tendency to wear down late in games or on long drives. Because of stamina and character concerns they had him projected as a middle round pick. But they must have adjusted that after they wrote his bio, because he was 39th on the big board in the app.
---"It was great training being there. They do it with character and intelligence. They run that organization the right way. They build through the draft. They're patient. It's just the right way to do it. It was a tremendous opportunity to be with them." Jimmy Haslam on why he'd model the Browns after the Steelers, 10/16/12

What was the context? Not watching on TV, but I HATE that guy.

They had Armed Service vets on stage...... that's how he prompted the crowd to applaud and cheer.

It just sounded really stupid, which is no surprise considering the source.

Jason may touch on a couple other issues with Taylor if he has time tonight.

I just don't see how giving up a high third equates to 6 spots in the late 1st with plenty of players left.

I like the trade down for the additional picks, don't give up picks for moving back up then.

p.s. that chick in the NYG shirt in the NFL commercial is more than boneable.

I have confidence in Heckgren, but I have to admit that my initial feeling after trading up to select Taylor was that it felt like a Mangini sort of move. I guess that name was a big disappointment after having visions of playmakers like Green, Jones, and Peterson in orange and brown for the past couple of months. :thud:

A quick glance at a few recent mock drafts, Taylor was supposed to go at around 30. I am with you. I don't think we shoulda traded up from 27 to get him.

"During the one-on-one drills in the week before the Senior Bowl as well as during the actual game he was asserting his dominance over the so-called "Elite" offensive lineman of the 2011 NFL draft with names that include Nate Solder, Anthony Castonzo, and many others. "

From Steelers site suggesting Taylor should be their pick. He is a monster and should close up the middle very nicely. Washington Post also had him as a top Redskin consideration.
