From the Sprint Football app on my phone: Phil Taylor was disciplined twice at Penn State, released from his scholarship after being involved in an on-campus fight in 2008. Consistently fought off double teams and is great against the run. Considered a 3 down lineman if he can improve his stamina, which some believe he can do through basic conditioning. He had a tendency to wear down late in games or on long drives. Because of stamina and character concerns they had him projected as a middle round pick. But they must have adjusted that after they wrote his bio, because he was 39th on the big board in the app.

I just don't see how giving up a high third equates to 6 spots in the late 1st with plenty of players left.

I like the trade down for the additional picks, don't give up picks for moving back up then.

I have confidence in Heckgren, but I have to admit that my initial feeling after trading up to select Taylor was that it felt like a Mangini sort of move. I guess that name was a big disappointment after having visions of playmakers like Green, Jones, and Peterson in orange and brown for the past couple of months. :thud:

From Steelers site suggesting Taylor should be their pick. He is a monster and should close up the middle very nicely. Washington Post also had him as a top Redskin consideration.
