I think DTs may have been available later, really wanted a DE. I think Nevis and Austin are there at 37 and 70. But we just gave up 70. Not thrilled. But in Heckholm I trust!

Yes, but we still have 2 picks in the 2nd round and 2 picks in teh 1st in 2012.

So, we got that going for us.

I don't get it.

But if you are going to roll with undersized defensive ends, you don't have much of a choice but to occupy blockers in the middle with some beef.

Just think once you move up, you could have finished off the offensive line for next 6 years (other than replacing Eric S).

Move up, fill in your DL with a mountain and get one you liked.

He is a mountain of a man. Hopefully he can plug up the middle of the AFC North for the next 7 years or so.

Phil Taylor:

Involved in an on-campus fight in October, 2008 while attending Penn State. Was suspended for one game and was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Charges were ultimately dismissed but Taylor was suspended from the team in February 2008 and transferreding to Baylor that year. Biggest concern here is with his work ethic. Will he work hard enough off-the-field (practice, conditioning, diet) to reach full potential?

BTW - JTA's thoughts from the diary:

Jason-Phil Taylor is a guy I thought the Browns could target because he is exactly what a DT in a Dick Jauron defense has looked like in the past. The guys who are questioning how much he will play don't understand what a power 4-3 defense is all about. Taylor and Rubin will be rocks in the middle and they will allow the LBs to run and hit. Seems like the defensive philosophy that Jauron has run in the past will be exactly what they run in the future.
