Spending a Friday evening at the inner harbor area in a few weeks. Like most things in my life punctuated by raising young children, I was there a decade and half ago and haven't been there since. I am often rip van winkle.

I was thinking that Fell's Point might still be fun for a csaual dinner and some bevs, but have visions of being that out of town guy who stil thinks the Flats are still happenin'.

Any advice? I really just want to have in walking or short cab ride on the water side of all the murder spots.

When ya going? Time of year makes a difference whether I send ya off for fresh crabs or for safer fare

Is seafood required?

Are you staying right there or out in the burbs like owings Mills or someplace?

My strongest suggestion would be for you to grab a rental car and head 45 minutes to Annapolis. Eat at McGarvey's, or Fado and drink at CastleBay (couple great Irish bars on the main strip) and take in one of the greatest little places I've been. But if your heart is set on Inner Harbor I need the above.

Naval Academy and the flight museum in it is great if you have kids or if ya wanna walk off a few beers and crab dip with the wife or yourself and everyone should visit Annapolis once.

Spend a day barhopping Feld's and Federal Hill.

Avoid the Inner Harbor tourist trap like the plague.

East at Carroll's Creek in Eastport/Annapolis.

Eat or drink at Tabrizi's. My favorite summer hangout by far. Would actually go to Little Havana for brunch then just hang our for a couple hours in the sun at Tabrizi's.

Avoid boarded up row houses.

Don't be shocked if you see at least ten homeless dudes with crack foam coming from the mouth.

Ok. A couple of suggestions. He'll need to cab it, but short cab rides.

Brewers Art if he appreciates good food and good beer. They brew their own. He should try a Resurrection Ale for sure. This place is in the Mt. Vernon section of Baltimore. It's nice to get out of the Harbor area sometimes. It's about 10 minutes North of downtown (if you catch the lights and no traffic:-)

If he likes Bourbon at all. He can try BlueGrass. Also a cab ride. It's in Federal Hill, right on the other side of the Harbor. Here's there website. It's definitely Foodie food, so he should take a look at the menu. T

If he really wants a Seafood Place he can go to either The Black Olive or Oceanaire. Both a short cab ride. The Black Olive is in Fells Point and Oceanaire in Harbor East.

You can get crabs now, but they might not be local. It's a little early. This option is in Canton which is on the Harbor by Fells Point.

Lastly, if he just wants a lot of beer options, he can head to Fells Point. Max's on Broadway. Ridiculous beer selection. Can't vouch for food.

Also, Baltimore's Little italy is vastly underrated and right near Felds/Canton (they are neighbors!).

Brewers Art is insanely cool, although I wouldn't cab up there over taking time to hit Feld's and just barhop. Cost benefit thing. If you can do both do both.

May. Just Ang & I. She's getting a butt cheap SWA to BWI meeting me up. Pickin' her up after I do some work in the area. Thursday nite only, rest of wkend going to DC cause its a real city, but I don't want to sweat the beltway traffic.

Really want to stay close to the fort which is in said area of IH Lee referenced I want to avoid. That's why I was was thinking Fells. Close and it use to be fun and most foaming mouth cack heds are west. Plus when you google Fell Pt one of the images that came up was two chicks kissing. I showed it to Ang & asked if she had interest and minded spectators.

Max's at Fell's point is great. About 100 beers on tap. I would definitley go there before anywhere else.
