Wedge's head, please meet the brickwall

OK. Have we not seen just about enough of Jhonny in the 3 slot? At least move him out of there for a couple of weeks and see if he can break out. This lienup should be sooo easy to put together:

1. Michaels - Sees alot of pitches. Works count. Minimal power
2. Blake - Also works counts. Will go to right.
3. Grady - Best offensive player
4. VMart - Breaks up the lefties, blossomed in 4 hole in 2004.
5. Hafner - Think V-Mart might get some pitches in front of him?
6. 1B - Either one fits in nicely here
7. Belliard - get things rolling again
8. Jhonny - Relax and start seeing the ball and hitting.
9. Boone - Good enough speed to roll the lineup over.

It's been a long time beef of mine that Hafner does not hit in the 3 hole, where I strongly feel your best overall hitter should hit.

I would go like this ...

Grady
Michaels
Hafner
Victor
Blake
Perez/Bennie
Fat Ronnie
Honny
Boone

I've tried to stay away from the Fire Wedge Bandwagon, the same way I did last year at this time. Even given some of the obvious flaws he has as a manager, I still feel he deserves more time with this team, and hes not getting fired anyway ... so theres no point in getting too worked up about it.

But hes making it much harder this year.

Why I like Hafner 5th...he should be the "protection" for the lineup. He is going to walk wherever you hit him, but putting him after Grady/VMart might actually force people to pitch to him.

This post was not about firing Wedge. I find it hard to believe anyone could come up with a good reason for keeping him, firing him would probably send up a white flag on this season, which it is not time to do. Their ability to hit and score runs is enough hope for me that the rotation and bullpen can come together and catch Detroit. It would just be nice if it would happen sooner, rather than later.

Travis Hafner will never see another decent pitch again if you have the 1B position batting behind him.

My lineup:

Grady (will one day be the number 3, but not this year)
Michaels (no one else to put there, so he wins by default)
Pronk (I too, believe that your best hitter bats 3rd)
Victor (might need to move him down if he doesnt start hitting)
Blake (should be good enough to victor some pitches)
1B
Fat Ronnie
Honny
Boone

You mean that first base platoon that is hittign .350? He walks more than anyone else on the team right now, so why not use him for protection. I hardly thing V-Mart is offering him much protection lately. The only way to get Hafner pitches is to offer no option to pitch around him. The only way to do that is to have runners on the bases. If you want to load the bases to pitch to Brousard or Perez, go ahead.
