Recommendations -- Cleveland and surrounding

Going to be in Mentor, Chardon and Cleveland from 6/2 thru 6/4. Wanted some recommendations on where to grub. Would probably be bringing a client eat one night around Chardon, and then some places around the Jake for pregame food and post game beers (Rangers are in town, going to try to catch 2).

Silvestro's while in Lake/Geauga County...

Greenhouse Tavern while downtown...

Great food, large portions, reasonable receipts...

Never heard a bad thing bout either place

In that case make a right, a left and another right out of Silvestros and knock on the window of the first 1978 LTD you see. Tell 'em your my boy and they'll knock a few bucks of your smoke.

You'll impress any client when ya roll up to an 80 year old tavern/boarding house and let him order a 24 oz hunk o' beef or 1.5 lb lobster tail with all the fixins...

Laid back, friendly & fast service...

Not quite sure I get the whole Mentor - Chardon - Downtown golden triangle but you might want to check with some more local peeps on

Gavi's in Willoughby and Molinari's in Mentor. I have not been either in years but both were pretty good at one time. Not sure about Chardon but you might want a nice romantic drive with your customer into Chagrin Falls and hit up Gamekeeper's Tavern

you from around Middlfield? I just moved from there to sunny Georgia. went to the town tavern a lot. i wasn't a local though, moved there in 2000. lots of road apples to dodge when ridin the bicycle! Middlefield was nice enough but the 12+ feet of snow we got every year was a pain. had one shovel for the 10 years i was there and by the time i left it was literally worn down to a nub. refused to buy a snow blower. in retrospect i wish i would have but after i was there a while i got stubborn. ahh good times...NOT

Agree w/ Matt on Gamekeepers in CFalls. Molinari's is okay, Silvestro's better. I've heard Gavi's is good...

As far as Chardon goes, Bass Lake is the only place I'd take a client. Stay away from Chardon Brewworks, you've been warned

Thanks fellas. I'm looking forward to the trip, and hope it can turn into a annual or twice a year deal. Regardless of the Tribe's current situation, I'm looking forward to getting back to the Jake.

I'd have crossed it off the list before that. I think Zappitelli's in Painesville has better food, portions and prices than Gavi's did. Nowhere near the atmosphere for sure, but I ain't going for that in most cases.

Never had a dish there I didn't like, and has pretty decent atmosphere. There are also a couple of other taverns right there so you can change things up if necessary.

From the thread Swerb linked, you simply HAVE TO try and get to Melt. You will most likely wait to be seated, but it's worth it...the beer list alone is worth the wait. Had the Lake Erie Monster sammy yesterday....rightchous

There are really so many options, the feeding choices make living around here not so sucky at times....it depends really on what type of joint you want.

Yikes. When you think you can do banquet food better than standard restaurant table service, not really sure what to say. Or maybe it's just they can make more $$$ for over priced wedding food. Hopefully they will forbid cash bars - I know how NE Ohioans hate a cash bar

Lure Bistro in DTW is outstanding. My brother threw a surprise Bday party for his GF this past weekend. They allowed us to rent the entire upstairs for a cheap price and scaled everything on the menu down to $20 for every entree. Great service, best seafood in the area IMO. Their signature crab crusted grouper with lobster tarragon sauce is the stuff of legends.

Not sayin there aren't some decent dishes, I love the cajun shrimp entree, but there's really nothin that hasn't been done before...

Good place to go have a brew on the patio or grab something quick...

Yeah, the overall ambiance might fall a tad short if you want to impress a client, LOL!

I still feel that the overall menu is a cut above what most would find in a typical pub though....I've been to plenty. Mayne not necessarily original, but at least well done.

Had a fisherman's chowder there not to long ago....very nice.
