I re-did my entire team a few weeks ago to see how the balance rating , better defensive ratings and all of that good stuff worked.

Part of that was cutting Lou Gehrig. He looked a bit pale to me. Like he was losing a little weight or something. When he was clearing shit out of his locker I told him he might want to see a doctor.

As for me:

I would've liked to make it back to .500, but 80-82 will do for a first try.

I built my team well for my home park by focusing on OBP and doubles guys over power hitters (45-36), but that made us weaker on the road.

Albert Belle was more of a homer-or-strikeout guy than I expected him to be.

I built my bullpen wrong. It seems like the strat manager is more willing to let good relievers go 3 or 4 innings than "real" managers are, and conversely less likely to use ROOGYs or LOOGYs. I'll have to keep that in mind next time.

It seems like a $6M outfielder puts up much better offense than a $6M middle infielder (with good defense). It seems to me like if you want a defensive infield, you either want to go for the top dollar guys, or just forgo offense for the position and get somebody in the $2-3M dollar range.

My one platoon was mediocre. I'm not sure how efficient a platoon is dollarwise...maybe in a high dollar league they would be more effective.

Finished 80-82 despite scoring 49 runs more than my opponents. I...don't get it. Run prevention is overrated. I gave up 40 fewer runs than anyone else in the league, still couldn't crack .500. Just like in real life, the East was a beast of a division which didn't help. Regardless, a lot of fun. Lets get these playoffs over with so we can get the other league going!

Yeah, Hal does do some silly things. Hal attempted 23 steals with my slow-ass catcher. 23! He got caught 13 of them. When I had a reliever go on the DL for a short time I picked up a 500K arm who then proceeded to pitch the next 287 innings straight, or so it seemed.

Once you get your pen dialed in for HAL do not mess with it. I tried to tweak it near the end and as you saw I got knocked out of first. I did however get Eck's prime spot figured early and got awesome use out of him, I don't think 120+ innings in 80 mil happens much with him.

BTW mo since we're talkin pitching, which one of the SP's on the only staff to boast four 15+ game winners should I start in game 1?

I've got an uphill battle now, man. I could envision a scenario where I pull out the next 2 with Big Unit and Santana. But, to beat Nolan Ryan twice in one series...not bloody likely.

Yeah an outcome like that after out hitting the opponent is frustrating (also strangely odd that your 3 errors played 0 factor in the score), part of the reason for that can be attributed to my cards (even though it's a roll of the dice thing in the end), if you notice my pitchers cards give up the fewest HRs, I think a total of 3 possible 1-8, 1-5 & 1-1 from my SPs.

Also with as often as your guys get on base, and move around the bases, with just 1 masher in the middle of your line up you'd own me in this series and you'd probably win 5-10 more games in the reg season, IMHO. IMO the margin for success or failure is smallest with a small ball team.
