Two OSU recruits in McDonalds Game tonite

Unread postby danwismar » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:54 pm

If anyone's interested, there are two future Buckeyes (and a couple other pretty good players too) playing in the McDonald's A-A Game tonight at 10 pm on ESPN.

Amir Williams (center) and PG Shannon Scott will be playing for the East (I assume)

After watching a bunch of video, I kind of like two of their other recruits better than these two McD A-A's. LaQuinton Ross and Sam Thompson...both 2-3 wing types really jumped out at me. Both could help as freshmen, IMO, getting some of the Diebler-Lighty minutes.

Everyone I respect and read re Buckeyes hoops won't shutup about Ross.

I have no idea who he is or WTF he even look like, but I will say the guy has all the minds united behind him.

I'm going to be posting a bunch of video on all these guys in this weekend's column, but check out YouTube in the meantime if you have a minute.

Ross seems like more of a glider, pure shooter at about 6'7"...very long strider type...not terribly quick from what I can see. They say he needs to work hard at becoming a better defensive player

Thompson is the more explosive, high-flyer, spectacular dunker and leaping shot blocker type guy at about 6'6", IIRC. Try this on for a preview:

Sick no doubt, I guess my only question would be how does Thad work a high flyer into his Sullinger and 3s O?

I'm yet to ever see any play at OSU get to show there lift off in that offensive system. Hope it does, deeply.

Holy shit....starters Beal, Gilchrist and Thomas...all going to Kentucky...an amazing class...total of four kids in this game. OSU kids are backups.

sorry...Beal is a Florida commit, but still KY has four players in this game and Gilchrist and Anthony Davis (not Thomas) are amazing.

Shannon Scott very impressive in the 1st half...on defense especially...has at least three steals already (I'm watching late on DVR)

Duke has two ridiculous guards in this game...and McAdoo and Hairston going to UNC are a freaky good duo for the Heels.

Rich getting richer bigtime.

A couple more thoughts on the game:

Amir Williams didn't show me shit. He's tall. That is all. Not even close to Cody Zeller, the IU commit, or any of the other centers in this game.

Very excited about Shannon Scott. Very good defender, great passer, very quick and sure-handed with the ball. He's a pure point, but I'd like to see him and Craft on the floor together a lot next year.

Duke with Rivers (Doc's kid and national POY) and Cook at guards and another Plumlee brother who looks good, are in great shape. UK's class is sick.

Kentucky, Duke and UNC have to be ranked 1-2-3 in some order coming out of the gate next year (depending on who sticks around)

Williams is kinda gangley and unimpressive. Get him on an strength program and see what happens.

I've given you mad shit lately dan re: Tressel gate and you being a hope for the best fanboi, but this is a hell of a column: http://theclevelandfan.com/ohio-state-b ... eye-leaves

Similar to your post football class columns, when it comes to actual on the field play you are a hell of an evaluator and very balanced.

Appreciate that, EO.
