A farmer and a teacher, a hooker and a preacher
Riding on a midnight bus bound for Mexico
One was headed for vacation, one for higher
education and two of them were searching for lost souls

The more I remember and reas about Ronald the more he's ascended into a mythical status as POTUS. He rode the sense of American pride and exceptionalism he helped portra while his politics and policies were pretty so so.

Like it or not, you all are internet schucks, as am I for the 99 / 100th part. I refuse to get all phist & stuff, even as I'm annying the shit out yah. But while this has a few years on it, AFAIC AJS Jr remans the definitive expert on the US presidency. I know, I'm Freddie Engels for citing AJS via a neutral PBS link. Whatever. Just shows Ronnie was hardly this alleged demi-god as potus.

Edit:
And another respected survey that is done more frequently/recently that benchmarks, surveying actual expert historians (not biased institute whack jobs).

Sorry wingies, Ronnie just isn't the 5th Beatle on Mt Rushmore.
A note on the cold war... The fall was the result of a coherent and ocnsistent 40 year bi-partisan strategy of containment, not a final 6 year drunk spending push or SDI fantasy. If you are a conservative, you give credence to Rand, and if you give credence to rand, you have to see the fall as inevitable due to a flawed political philosophy. In that sense, Reagan is no more to be credited for '88 than Johnson, JFK, Ford, Carter, Nixon, Ike or Turman.
