Hey Peek, you've made a shit ton of transactions. What is your cap down to?

$250k.

I re-did my entire team a few weeks ago to see how the balance rating , better defensive ratings and all of that good stuff worked.

Part of that was cutting Lou Gehrig. He looked a bit pale to me. Like he was losing a little weight or something. When he was clearing shit out of his locker I told him he might want to see a doctor.

I almost feel bad for my bump earlier this week, I really didn't think your division was wrapped up Peek.

Key word being almost.

My team is circling the drain. Win every Lincecum start and I am a .400 team in the other games.

18 games left. I need to win at least 11-12 of em. Don't think this squad has it in em. Spent too much on Lincecum, Hershiser, Dibble. Rest of my staff is atrocious playing in my bandbox stadium. Waste of a helluva lineup that is perfect for my stadium/division.

Big series tonight b/w me and FUDU. Him one game up on me for the WC with 12 to play.

Of course, no Lincecum (25-5) in this series. Larry Gura, Danny Cox in the first two. Gotta pray I find a way to Babe Ruth my way to a win in one of those before sending The Bulldog Orel Hershiser out for game three of the series.

Also ... for all the Strat geeks, highly reccomend this pool for the coming baseball season. A lot of fun.

Yep big one tonight, still an outside chance for me (both of us really) to steal the division but unlikely. We get to do this again on Thursday, if I can manage to win both series and gotribe can do me a solid maybe it comes down to the final night w/me v. moscratch (whom I am still not speaking to).

Holy shit.

Larry Fucking Gura just no hit FUDU.

Yes, Larry Gura. Would have been a perfect game had it not been for a Ryan Howard error. No hits, no walks. 28 batters faced.

That is the craziest shit I've ever seen in Strat. Dude is 12-14 with a 5.61 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP.

Danny Cocks gets shelled in game 2, a 8-3 FUDU win. And then a Ryan Howard solo shot is the difference in a 4-3 Orel Hershiser/Rob Dibble win for me in the rubber match.

Me and FUDU 80-73 with 9 games (and another three game series still) left. Peeker 79-74. Three of us battling for the wild card.

You can have Hack Wilson if you put Swerb, Pauly C and FUDU on some type of federal 'Watch List'.

Screw it. I'll throw in Mike Schmidt for nothing if you can get it done today.

There's like a 3 day break after the season ends IIRC.

You get nothing but shame for it being that close. A completely biased anti-numbers/analytics guy like me being one behind a titan of the game such as yourself? And there are still 3 games left?

As for me:

I would've liked to make it back to .500, but 80-82 will do for a first try.

I built my team well for my home park by focusing on OBP and doubles guys over power hitters (45-36), but that made us weaker on the road.

Albert Belle was more of a homer-or-strikeout guy than I expected him to be.

I built my bullpen wrong. It seems like the strat manager is more willing to let good relievers go 3 or 4 innings than "real" managers are, and conversely less likely to use ROOGYs or LOOGYs. I'll have to keep that in mind next time.

It seems like a $6M outfielder puts up much better offense than a $6M middle infielder (with good defense). It seems to me like if you want a defensive infield, you either want to go for the top dollar guys, or just forgo offense for the position and get somebody in the $2-3M dollar range.

My one platoon was mediocre. I'm not sure how efficient a platoon is dollarwise...maybe in a high dollar league they would be more effective.

Wow. Can't beleive that happened. Crazy way to end a crazy season. Sorry Swerb? FUDU, I expect a case of Great Lakes.

Finished 80-82 despite scoring 49 runs more than my opponents. I...don't get it. Run prevention is overrated. I gave up 40 fewer runs than anyone else in the league, still couldn't crack .500. Just like in real life, the East was a beast of a division which didn't help. Regardless, a lot of fun. Lets get these playoffs over with so we can get the other league going!

Excuse me Al, but there's only one team that took a dive to get FUDU in...err...I mean, tried like hell. FUDU should send that case over to me, I think.

Slow down there mo, there is still plenty of time for me to change my mind where you're concerned.

I assume me v Paulie C. and mo v Selby?

That's what it says. Looks like 2 games a night starting monday.

Selby or I will see you in the final. Paulie C should be a pushover.

Season's over. Let's kill this thread.

You good with that Rich?

Yeah, me too.

Personally I hope the sportingnews/strat site are stricken with a horrific virus that spreads to each playoff team's lap top/home computer and then to the playoff team's owner in a historic machine-to-man virus. ;-) ;)

After the OSU game I crawled into my usual post-loss shell avoiding all media, then decided to check the Strat Thread before bed. The site would not load and I was curious if Rich said "Fuck It" and unplugged the whole site. I thought someone better check on him...

After my bullpen carried me the whole second half, I'm done in by a middle reliever coming in to pitch in the late innings in two losses despite my efforts to tab him as persona non grata in the settings/strategy pages.

Best of luck boys, it's been fun...

Yeah, Hal does do some silly things. Hal attempted 23 steals with my slow-ass catcher. 23! He got caught 13 of them. When I had a reliever go on the DL for a short time I picked up a 500K arm who then proceeded to pitch the next 287 innings straight, or so it seemed.

Once you get your pen dialed in for HAL do not mess with it. I tried to tweak it near the end and as you saw I got knocked out of first. I did however get Eck's prime spot figured early and got awesome use out of him, I don't think 120+ innings in 80 mil happens much with him.

BTW mo since we're talkin pitching, which one of the SP's on the only staff to boast four 15+ game winners should I start in game 1?

That's the thing that pisses me off as once Ron MF'in Taylor blew the first game for me, I changed the settings to prevent him ever seeing a game. He, of course, came in late in Game 7 with the game tied and promptly gave up 4 runs.

We cool. I was just a little salty that I outhit you 11-2 and lost and then my closer blew a 2 run lead in the ninth. Probably lost the whole thing right there.

I've got an uphill battle now, man. I could envision a scenario where I pull out the next 2 with Big Unit and Santana. But, to beat Nolan Ryan twice in one series...not bloody likely.

This one game a night thing is going to kill me.

Yeah an outcome like that after out hitting the opponent is frustrating (also strangely odd that your 3 errors played 0 factor in the score), part of the reason for that can be attributed to my cards (even though it's a roll of the dice thing in the end), if you notice my pitchers cards give up the fewest HRs, I think a total of 3 possible 1-8, 1-5 & 1-1 from my SPs.

Also with as often as your guys get on base, and move around the bases, with just 1 masher in the middle of your line up you'd own me in this series and you'd probably win 5-10 more games in the reg season, IMHO. IMO the margin for success or failure is smallest with a small ball team.
