Obama, GE and a POS car (4 U JB)

http://www.forbes.com/2011/03/16/chevy-volt-ayn-rand-opinions-patrick-michaels_2.html

Page 2 is the juicy stuff.

"Consequently, and soon after his appointment, Immelt announced that GE will buy 50,000 Volts in the next two years, or half the total produced. Assuming the corporation qualifies for the same tax credit, we (you and me) just shelled out $375,000,000 to a company to buy cars that no one else wants so that GM will not tank and produce even more cars that no one wants. And this guy is the chair of Obama's Economic Advisory Board?"

What happened to change and transparency?

He's giving Harvard and Columbia a bad name.

I want a Volt. They look pretty cool. The Nissan Leaf is nice too and has twice the range. I'm going all electric with the next car.

I like the Volt's front end, but the rear just doesn't look right.

Cdt I expected as much from someone who doesn't read the actual links, so until you do....smoke up Johnny.

Mistero, IMO you shouldn't even think about buying either the Volt or Leaf for at least 3 years, and there's a legit chance the Volt won't even be around then, these EVs have a long long way to go before anyone should trust spendibg 20k on them.

Peeker you can always tell when JB is caught off guard in liberal mode, the silence gives him away.

I read the links, fool.

You just assume I don't because I don't get outraged over stuff like this.

I'm not outraged, I'm just pointing out the utter failure that Obama and many of his decisions are.

It's hard to come up with anybody in recent memory who has thrown more money away than Obama, but hey at least he's well spoken right.

My silence is a reflection on a ) when I hit a crazy work load, and b ) when I think you're a baiting moron and I wouldn't give your trolling efforts the last shake of my morning piss.

Priming a market the US has to participate in for future economic success to avoid being an economy based purely on knowledge and consumption is infinately preferable to the black hole of Iraq and Halliburton's profits, but I guess that makes me the love child of Dennic Kucinich & Angela fuckin' Davis if I can figure that out, so remember how you got ur name.

FU DU.

Not worth my centrist time you partisan wing nut retard.

It gets better, or is it funnier, or sadder.

http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/566719/201103211908/Obama-Drill-Brazil-Drill.htm

We will help Brazil develop its offshore oil so we can one day import it.

We have noted this double standard before, particularly when — at a time when the president was railing against tax incentives for U.S. oil companies — we supported the U.S. Export-Import Bank's plan to lend $2 billion to Brazil's state-run Petrobras with the promise of more to follow.

Now, with a seven-year offshore drilling ban in effect off of both coasts, on Alaska's continental shelf and in much of the Gulf of Mexico — and a de facto moratorium covering the rest — Obama tells the Brazilians:

"We want to help you with the technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely. And when you're ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers."

Obama wants to develop Brazilian offshore oil to help the Brazilian economy create jobs for Brazilian workers while Americans are left unemployed in the face of skyrocketing energy prices by an administration that despises fossil fuels as a threat to the environment and wants to increase our dependency on foreign oil.

Yet in his alleged quest for "secure-energy supplies," he refuses to develop oil and natural gas resources in U.S. waters. His administration has locked up areas in the West where oil shale reserves are estimated to be triple Saudi Arabia's reserves of crude. His administration is even stalling on plans to build a pipeline to deliver oil from Canada's tar sands to the U.S. market.

Just like geting under your skin JB, but honestly I'd love to hear what you think of these things, and am always curious to hear you defend this guy.

FTR I am in support of Obama making friends with Brazil (even though the motive screams disingenuous), just wish he would make his mind up about what he wants to do, and would put America (the country that elected him POTUS) first for once.

ETA: don't look now JB but Obama seems to be all for keeping us a consumer economy by becoming customers of Brazil as we consume their oil.
