Clemson vs Alabama-Birmingham

Don't think I've ever punched TruTV into my remote before? Not even surfed & stopped at it...

All you Gus Fanboyz get your wish tomorrow as he's gonna try to make the Texas-San Antonio/Alabama St game sound interesting...

Let The Games Begin!!!

TruTv is usually just housewife coutroom bullshit or utter barindead reality tv.

and i'm not watching, it's probably going to be shitty basketball and it's not the real Tourney.

I'm annoyed that the 203rd and 207th teams on Ken Pomeroy's offensive efficiency are going off for 140 or so. Makes my under 130 look like shit.

Midnight works. That way you catch Kent- St. Mary's 2nd half action on espn2 :thumb up:

I like how Special K and Nantz are there to legitimize the First Four games. Nice.

UAB down 29-13 early. Alec Burks, JaMychal Green and Malcolm Delaney would've scored 13 points on their own by now.

Nope! Though it looked like it for a minute there.

On to Fairfield. They can beat Fairfield, right? I mean, it's Fairfield.

I fell asleep at halftime of the Kent game (nice win BTW ... flying out to Cali and beating St Marys), but a good day of hoops to get the postseason started.

Every year, the play in game, you get that false sense of excitement. You hear the CBS March Madness background music. Even had Nantz and Clark calling the game yesterday. Gets you fired up. Tip off comes, the tourney is finally underway.

5 minutes later, every year - "My God these teams suck. Can I watch this entire game?"

Asheville/Little Rock game ended up being a good one though. Asheville kept making runs, Little Rock kept turning em away when they got close. Then they hit the 3 to send it into OT and win.

Vikings win, but their chance to host Dayton is rebuffed by a Charleston team (with three straight 20 win seasons now under Bobby Cremins) that looked pretty damn good last night dominating a Flyer team that was on a nice little roll. Be a tough next game for the Vikes.

UAB sucks. If that wasn't the argument for keeping the field at 64, I don't know what is. Just dominated from wire to wire against a Clemson team that was 0-5 against the top 50 in the RPI this season. All the ESPN talking heads that just killed the UAB selection for two hours straight on Sun night had to have raging hard ons watching that one.

That Kent game was ridiculous. They had no right winning that game down 9 points with 3 minues left. Then they gave St Mary a (literally) free and easy run to the rim for a layup with just 2.9 seconds left and the kid missed it.

Nice bounces and good fortune for the Vikings and Flashes.

Props to Kent though. They had every reason to fold with that draw, flight, deficit with 3 minutes remaining, etc but they didn't. They showed something there.

For the Vikes that was a really important win because it gave them 3 more practice days which Waters will use and it's possible that they get some ESPN2 exposure Saturday night against College of Chrlstn given that Cole and Andrew Goudelock.

UD got a pretty raw deal in this whole thing. Not that they really deserved an NIT bid prior to beating Xavier. But they got one day off and had to play a road game as a higher seed because of the play-in games being at their arena.

Charleston -5 was too easy last night.

Greatest article ever. Thanks to hioktane for the forward.

I don't know Drew Magary but I'd like to be him:

http://deadspin.com/#!5782641/the-hater ... -68-part-i

It's that time of year again. Time to break out the roasting jacket and say horrible, awful, incredibly mean-spirited things about every school participating in the NCAA tournament. And while I fucking hate the new 68-team bracket, that does give us a chance to hate on three extra schools this go round. So that's nice.

2. North Carolina: No school has benefited more from having an archrival who happens to be even more haughty and douchetastic. I'm onto you, Tarheels. You think just because you hate Duke that you can sneak by without anyone hating your fucking guts. But you are WRONG. But the truth is that, if Duke didn't exist, YOU would be Duke. You'd be the most hated program in the country, what with your gross sense of entitlement and Dickie V lapping up Roy Williams' seminal fluid like it's cereal milk. You people owe Duke a steak dinner for covering up so much of what makes you despicable.

FACT: Every three seconds, a person in the North Carolina wilderness is being raped. I drove through the state once, and you see the forests on the side of the road and you just know, twenty feet in, someone has a penis inside them that they don't want inside them. North Carolina is also the only state where it's legal to rape someone and fish at the same time.

7. Temple: Jesus, why do they even let Temple into this tournament anymore? They're just gonna go and shit the bed. And did anyone ever explain why former head coach John Chaney looks the way he looks? He looks like a beaver who decided to wear the Green Hornet's mask. Seriously, I think I see a map of Asia on his face. When you Google "John Chaney", Google suggests "John Chaney goon" to you. I swear this is true. It also suggests you not do an Image search.

No you couldn't. Another thing you know nothing about. :dingle:

1. Duke: Duke recently ranked 244th out of 285 schools in terms of overall student safety. And do you know why? Because when no one is looking, Coach K has his players sneak up on any freshman virgin the coach deems "of good breeding." ...The freshmen are then forced to watch multiple floor-slapping videos with their eyelids held open.

Floor slapping videos..... :nanner:

Sweet. You goin' here?

4. Kentucky: In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last week, Jason Patric said that Ashley Judd was, "lazy, selfish, and arrogant." And really, doesn't that just make her the perfect Kentucky fan? She's gonna get fat, you know. In ten years, she'll be Kentucky fat, gnawing on chicken bones and drinking Hershey's Syrup right out of the bottle.

I also like WVU. Huggins teams play so gritty in the tourney. I took them at 2 yesterday. Would have taken them in my 6 school shootout, but I'm very worried about the athletic gap between them and UK.

Let the games begin!

Looking over my plays now. I took Temple at 2 a couple days ago as well.

Part II

http://deadspin.com/#!5782960/the-hater ... 68-part-ii

3. BYU: I think we all know that Mormons are a tribe of a creepy inbred circus performers whose beliefs fall somewhere just behind Scientology on the Lunacy Scale. This is why they cast out Brandon Davies for having the stones to follow his heart and plow a chick mid-season. I don't question BYU giving Davies the boot. That's just kooky BYU being kooky BYU.

But to every asshole radio host and broadcaster out there who applauded BYU from afar for sticking to its dopey little honor code: FUCK YOU. What the fuck are you so happy about? A kid made a mistake and got branded with a Scarlet Penis for it. And somehow you think this is a heartwarming tale? As if BYU sticking to its honor code somehow elevates sports? That is such tired bullshit. The hackiest of hacks are the dipshits out there who still think sports should be some kind of imaginary bastion of American morality, with players and schools doing shit "the right way." It's a wet dream that the likes of Colin Cowherd still cling to like a blue blanket, and it's fucking pathetic. Eat shit and die.

11. Gonzaga: Shouldn't they have made a Final Four by now? What a bunch of cockteases. I'm done finding Gonzaga adorable. It's gotten old. They're basically Pitt, only with a consistently lower seed. They're never getting to the Final Four. They're just gonna keep showing up every year and being all like, "Look at us! We're so small and cuddly? Won't you be ours?" And then they'll get crushed in one of the later rounds and we'll do it all over next year. Fuck you, Gonzaga. You're like a child star that Hollywood had no use for after puberty hit.

3. Purdue: Twenty-two Purdue graduates have gone on to become astronauts. Which is impressive, until you find out that the other 439,783 Purdue graduates have all gone on to become Driver's Ed instructors. It's all or nothing at that school.

Huge minutes off the bench for Butcher for Butler with Smith down w 4 fouls. Butler improbably outrebounding ODU. Mack can't hit anything after hitting 2 threes to start the game. Matt Howard is such a good player. Does so much that doesn't end up in the box score.

Good game between 2 really good teams.

West V has been controlling Clemson ever since the 12 min mark of the 1H. Clemson ran outta gas after the quick start. West V finally defending like they did in the reg season. Bryant and Jones have been great for WVU ... they have really good experienced guards that can create, score, and defend. If they can hang on, game vs UK will be a great one Sat.

Mazzula hits two big FTs, then two steals and buckets from Dalton Pepper.

West V puts the ice on the Tigers ... nice. Impressive stuff in the last 2/3 of this game from Huggie Bear's Mountaineers.

21 lead changes in this ODU/Butler game, still 8 min left. Tit for tat.

4th foul on Mack. 4 on Smith. 3 on Howard. Gotta keep these three on the floor till the end.

Big three by More Head State at the buzzer to end the 1H to help kill all that Louisville momentum. Cards were just impaling em down the stretch there after falling behind 10-0, and looking very impressive in doing so.

Looks like the Pitino press is wearing em down.

Good opening games. Reminiscient of last year when all 4 early games Thurs went down to the buzzer.

Butler is so well coached. So fundamentally sound. Outrebounding the best rebounding team in the country 26-18 with all grit, positioning, and hustle.

Finish em.

The online feed on ESPN opens a separate window to watch the games on the interwebs. It comes with a "boss button" that switches to a fake email screen incase of emergency.

Butler baby.

What a fucking game. Matt Howard.

He and Smith stayed on the floor despite the foul trouble. They tag team contributed to the game winner.

These guys are gonna give Pitt hell.

Anyone at a sports bar notice how the CBS "live look in " is about as "live " as good friday.

Taylor Battle from 27 and Temple comes right back to beat 'em with a leaner in the lane from Fernandez. My goodness.

Hey, that ODU - Butler game was a drag, huh?

First 5 minutes of 2nd half will tell you if Princeton gets gets smoked or if UK in big trouble.

You can see the gears of the UK kids grinding.

Trouble is the answer.

Ah ha ha. I had Morehead over Louisville, the only reason why is their school name. Plus the Big East always chokes in the tourney.

Too bad Ted Kennedy can't die again.

As much as working from home is starting to get to me this is the greatest day of the year to do so. Been drinking since I got home from the gym and have my Corned Beef boiling away (JB said he is coming over for dinner).

Great games today. 70 and sunny here. Got a nice buzz going. Nice day.
In the end, we're all "only for a limited time," you guys.
