I fell asleep at halftime of the Kent game (nice win BTW ... flying out to Cali and beating St Marys), but a good day of hoops to get the postseason started.

Every year, the play in game, you get that false sense of excitement. You hear the CBS March Madness background music. Even had Nantz and Clark calling the game yesterday. Gets you fired up. Tip off comes, the tourney is finally underway.

5 minutes later, every year - "My God these teams suck. Can I watch this entire game?"

Asheville/Little Rock game ended up being a good one though. Asheville kept making runs, Little Rock kept turning em away when they got close. Then they hit the 3 to send it into OT and win.

Vikings win, but their chance to host Dayton is rebuffed by a Charleston team (with three straight 20 win seasons now under Bobby Cremins) that looked pretty damn good last night dominating a Flyer team that was on a nice little roll. Be a tough next game for the Vikes.

UAB sucks. If that wasn't the argument for keeping the field at 64, I don't know what is. Just dominated from wire to wire against a Clemson team that was 0-5 against the top 50 in the RPI this season. All the ESPN talking heads that just killed the UAB selection for two hours straight on Sun night had to have raging hard ons watching that one.

That Kent game was ridiculous. They had no right winning that game down 9 points with 3 minues left. Then they gave St Mary a (literally) free and easy run to the rim for a layup with just 2.9 seconds left and the kid missed it.

Nice bounces and good fortune for the Vikings and Flashes.

Props to Kent though. They had every reason to fold with that draw, flight, deficit with 3 minutes remaining, etc but they didn't. They showed something there.

For the Vikes that was a really important win because it gave them 3 more practice days which Waters will use and it's possible that they get some ESPN2 exposure Saturday night against College of Chrlstn given that Cole and Andrew Goudelock.

UD got a pretty raw deal in this whole thing. Not that they really deserved an NIT bid prior to beating Xavier. But they got one day off and had to play a road game as a higher seed because of the play-in games being at their arena.

Charleston -5 was too easy last night.
