Oktoberfest isn't celebrated like St. Patricks day. Only by pockets of actual Germans, Schmidts (Man Vs Food) has the only real Oktoberfest celebration around here. And it's not a month, it's 16 days. It's ironic, in Ireland St. Patricks day is a serious religious holiday, over here it's an excuse for non Irish to get drunk and eat "Irish food", which is hilarious because the Irish idea of cooking is to boil it for 19 hours.

Place was serving corned beef, cabbage & carots. I waived my genetalia in the general direction of that crap. Mentally, of course. I ordered wings, which of course would hav been an irish staple, but the damn English and their protstant lackeys took all of our chickens. So all that was left was to salt, cure & boil the shitty part of a leftover cow.

Baked, Boiled, Slow cooker?
Pre-brined? Do I have time to brine if I get it on Sunday? Alton Browns takes 10 days damnit.
Carrots, potatoes, Cabbage, and boiled meat... mmmmm....

Annual JB 'boiled meat' rant in 3..2..1..
Slow cooker Z. A brisket as slowly cooked as you can afford time-wise. I slice an onion in with it, add enough water to cover 3/4 of the brisket, add a little minced garlic and a bay leaf and let it go. I do carrots and potatoes separate from brisket and I add the cabbage to the crock with brisket for last 45 minutes of cooking or so.

Funny you say that, I married into a 100% Irish family and think the idea of everyone going downtown to get shit faced is absurd. I guess a lot of full blooded Irish look down on the masses that day.

Of course the Irish think its absurd. They have another word for what the commoners practice on March 17th. Its called "breakfast".
And FUDU, why is going to the bars on the West Side a joke? My bro lives in Westlake and for the first time, we are staying around Kamms Corners (PJs, PH, and WPS) instead of heading downtown.
EDIT - Freshly's in Willoughby next to Lake West has phenomenal everything. Gyros, sandwiches, and in-house corned beef

Who plans on eating the sacred corned beef sandwich, and where are you getting it from.
Hopefully, my sandwich is already lined up.
CJ's cafe in Willoughby on Euclid Ave. is good
Micks's Pub also on Euclid Ave. in Willoughby is good.
Obviously Slymann's.
