Tiki Un-Retires- Ex Mates Light Him Up

Unread postby peeker643 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 9:54 pm

Tiki Barber files papers to play again at 35.

Antonio Pierce and Tim Hasselbeck kill him publicly (despite the gd boys club they usually seem to reside in :lmfao:

"I didn't get a chance to get to know who Tiki Barber was the person," Pierce said. "I know him as a player and the guy was great and we always congratulate each other, the way we played."

"But what he did in that locker room my two years with him, he didn't do anything but deteriorate that team," Pierce added. "And he didn't help us out. I don't see this guy as a leader or somebody that can help you out. And that's my problem with him. That is why I believe they [the Giants] will release him because he is going to cause nothing but problems for that team."

Hasselbeck said the Giants should bring him back, give him the Haynesworth treatment during camp abd then cut him after other teams had already solidified their rosters.

Said the guy is not a veteran leader and is 35 and hasn't played in four years at a position where you can always find help. Said that makes it clear that him losing his TV gig and going through an ugly divorce means money is all this is about.

This guy must be flat-out hated. If he was a dick in the locker room there's a good chance he was a dick at work and a dick at home.

..He actually fit in well on Fox New's morning show. Didn't pay all that much attention to it, but he seem to fit right in there.

I thought him moving to NBC was a bad move more so than retiring. He could do great mixed in with a bunch of goofballs in the morning.

Betcha a tank of gas he's not on an opening day roster (if there is football). Old dudes who are assholes and coach killers who call out their QBs and haven't played in 4 years aren't in demand. Especially ones who will be 3rd down backs only and who can't/won't play special teams.

Sounds like Tiki would have fit in nicely here, but we already have a Lee.

Reminds me again of some sage words a career mentor once gave me:

"I want to say one word to you. Just one word. Plastics."

No, not really. It was actually:

"You can not produce, or you can be a jerk. But you won't last if you do both."
