Don't look now but, uh, OK. The Knicks still aren't that good. I can hear the chants from the Big Apple now: "Help us, Chris Paul's creaky knees, you're our only hope!"

The Knicks are not a good team yet. They won't be until the can get some people to knock down outside shots. They lack the shooters needed to help create space. The guys needed are mid level exemption guys and they will come.

A couple of decent shooters and a defensive center(luxury for style of play) and they will be contending for the title. I know management didn't make this move(Carmelo) with the mindset of winning it this year.

The Heat have shooters with no one defending the basket. Celtics and Bulls when healthy should reign supreme in the east. Throw in the Magic when they are hitting the outside shot.

Popp is the man. He just keeps putting the right guys in the correct positions. This year with an aging Duncan he says well lets just run as much as possible. We cant pound it inside anymore.

I have been ignoring the Heat this year for obvious reasons, but that 30-point beatdown last night was sweet. Watching the ESPN highlights they pointed out the Heat is 14-17 against teams over .500 and 1-8 against the top five teams in the league. (Hope I got those numbers right).

They could be looking at a relatively early exit if they don't figure something out. Or are the Big Three just on cruise control until the real season starts?

As for the Knicks game, how did the Cavs score 119 without Jamison and with two guys wearing wine and gold for the first time? Were the Knicks even pretending to play defense? The field goals and free throws were even with the difference being the Cavs were 12-for-21 on three pointers. And Boobie didn't even play.

Who would have believed an unknown rookie like Samuels could draw two charges on Carmelo in crunch time? Has he been watching film of AV? The injury to Jamison may be a positive in the long run if it gives us a chance to get more developmental minutes for Samardo and Harangoty. Do these guys have a chance to be in the rotation next year?

I don't think the Heat's biggest problem is the front court. They aren't getting murdered down there by those teams. They are getting murdered out front - cause they can't defend the point guard position. So they are always trapping.

And when you get the good, fast point guards the good teams have, you're trapping and CHASING. Their good, log defenders, that you would assume could guard the perimeter are late. Resulting in Ray Allen & 1,000 guys from Orlando shooting open threes.

This is why Biiby isn't going to help.

And why Chicago and Boston aren't going to beat them with size, they going to do it with Rondo and Rose.

The front court isues they can mask with numbers and talent. The up front issues they can't.

The Heat's front court problem is that Bosh is becoming more exposed than Jimmy Dimora's dirty laundry. He's turning out to be closer to No Clue Drew than Pau Gasol, and this in a conference where the road to the Finals goes through guys like KG, Superman, and Noah. Right now, the Heat's playoff hopes are pretty much riding on the Stern Button.
