So much folly in this statement. There is proof that the Aztecs and Mayans, especially families with upward mobility, frequently used Cacoa in many of their fermented concoctions. They produced this by fermenting the pulp around the seeds which became a frothy, spicy substance not unlike beer. Ergo, Christ doesn't hold a candle to the folks occupying Puerto Escondido 3100 years ago.

Pacal >>>>> Christ.

Also, "There should not be giant, pizza loving Germans wandering Central Ohio."

They also dug human scarifice.

Coincidence?

I think not. Chocolate in beer made them do that.

Just find a bottle of Southern Tier Choklat and get back to me. If having to watch the products that occupy Carnegie + Ontario or CBS many times year isn't considered human sacrifice, I'd rather be a female in Tenochtitlan during the harvest season.

Aztecs and fucking Mayans? Rawlly?

Yep they had chocobooze...... and look what happened to them.

Now i'm not saying you're going to be killed by a Conquistador, but you never know, fucking Spanish, you just can't trust them.

Beer and chocolate should never be combined.

Cold beer + Frosty Glass= all you fucking neeed. save your fuckin spices and fruit peels for some chick drink.

And yeah.... maybe "i'm drunk right now" but that's ok because i have whiskey and more beer. So fuck those judgemental assholes and their bitch faces.

APA/IPA - Commodore Perry, Founders Endurance, North Coast Red Seal, Southern Tier 2x, Breckenridge Lucky U, Brooklyn EIPA, Green Flash West Coast, Stone Self-Righteous

Belgians(any style) - most Ommengangs are great, Rochefort 8/10, De Dolle Boskeun, Scaldis Strong Ale, Piraat, Brother Thelonious, 3 Fonteinen Gueuze

Stouts/Porters/Brown Ales/Bocks - Founders Porter, Dogfish Santo Marron, Founders Breakfast Stout, Du Dolle Export Stout, Celebrator, GLBC Dopplerock, Eddie Fitz, Dogfish India Brown, New Holland The Poet, Brewkettle Tunguska

Other Stuff - Most Barleywines if only for the booze, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace Saison, Sam Smith Organic Fruit stuff, Lindemans (except Faro), DRINK AVENTINUS.

If any of you guys have questions or are at the bar/store and unsure of something, send me a PM or reach me at Ben.Warburton@aleris.com which is also my Blackberry Messanger. I have drank almost everything on that Winking Lizard list and quite a bit more. I've been meaning to put together a lexicon of all the beers I've had which must be over 600 or 700. Time is at a premium at this point and I'd have to dig through Beer Advocate and Rate Beer to list them all which would actually be quite fun.

Yeah, it looks OK, but it can't possibly beat the intimacy and charm of the IX center.

Plus, you have to stay at Ziner's. Ask yourself if you really trust that guy.

No on Ziner.

But the decision might well come down to whether the flight+rental+incidentals to go to Colorado are equal to or less than parking at the IX Center.

Let me know man, I can at least approach my wife on the topic of allowing complete strangers in to staying the weekend. ;-) ;)

At worst we could hit up the Falling Rock pre-party and hang out the day of. Definitely an event where going with someone who has been there helps.

IMO the ultimate bachelor party weekend.... La Boheme almost at the exit of the convention center.

Use frequent flyer miles and have Z man pick you up at the airport. You're already staying at his place. The rest of the time you'll simply be doing bong hits, drinking beer, and eating Tater Tots - just like a weekend in Euclid. Incidentals will be kept to a minimum. Shit Peeks, after all you've been through recently I'll spot you 25,000 One Pass miles to go out there.

Both were great. The Souther Tier was 11%, and surprisingly smooth. The Pyramid was 8.5%, and very crisp. Hopheads will like it quite a bit.

Pretty close to the truth IMO.

That Colorado fest ranks up at the top of nearly any list you can find ranking beer festivals.

And its not like you can't find other things in Colorado to fill up a few days while you are there.

WIlloughby Brewing Company, with their new line of beers, has created one of the best Black IPAs ive had. Probably the best. Its called Hopjam and reminds me a lot of Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale. Went out with my bro and another friend last night to drown the sorrows at 1899. They are wrapping up their IPAlooza beer tour this week and they had it on tap. Try it if you have the chance.

Wham with the right hand. Comes in 4 packs which Founders only recently released to Ohio in small batches and boy is it a treat. At 10.5% ABV, it might be the most drinkable Impy stout at that level. Moreso than Ten Fidy, GLBC BO, Hopping Frog, and Rasputin RIS. Very little carbonation, low heat, creamy like silk with nice hints of chocolate, wood, and espresso leaning more toward the latter. Might be the darkest/opaque beer I've ever seen. World of Wines in Mentor received a case and I bought half of it. At $11.99/4, its on the pricey side but if you like stouts, make an effort to find this stuff. Its that good.

Yep. Champs in State College has it on tap along with might be the very best beer menu on tap in the world.

I'm going to have to avoid this thread for a while. I started counting points on monday and am relegating myself to Mic Ultra for the foreseeable future.

RNE's pictures make me sad.

^I'd sacrifice breakfast, lunch, and any snack before I drank MichWater.

Make sure you stop and pick up some tampons as well. How about a jog around the block before you cut out the good stuff?

Yeah really.

Eat some bacon sandwiches and drink real beer you dildo.

I'm pretty sure that's in the Bible, probably the old part.

I going to kick your guys asses as soon as I can walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath. And when I'm done kicking your asses, I'm going to have a delicious, refreshing Michalob Ultra. And it will be 2 points.

I tend to at least pretend to watch what I eat, rarely eat fast food, tend to eat lean meats during the week, try not to eat out (at a restaurant) more than a couple times a week, but fuck man. No one is touching my beer and making me drink Mich Ultra. You should take that bottle and shove it up Jenny Craig's fat ass.

Exercise, eat less, drink whatever in the fuck beer you want. That is my diet. Check it out at www.dontbeagoddamnpussy.com
In the end, we're all "only for a limited time," you guys.

Look, I'm not giving up good beer for the long term. But, I need to drop about 40-45 lbs off my fat ass. That includes more exercising and a better diet. And drinking Mic ultra and the like instead of a beer with 450 calories is going to make it easier and faster to do that. So that's what I'm going to do for a few months. When I drink a beer (seldomly for a while) it will be low cal piss water swill.

And anyone else who calls me a pussy should be prepared to meet my fire breathing fists of truth and righteousness. (flex)

HAHAH! Tomorrow I get to crack open one of the few of these that made its way to Ohio.

Truth be told, I've been a beer hunter for a few years now. When you spend enough money and keep good relationships with the folks who own good stores like Save-On, Wines and Liquors, World of Wines, Rozi's, Chucks, and a few others, doors open up. You can always go to Buckeye Beer Engine and the Brewkettle and buy rare stuff, but it is marked way the hell up. The take out menu for the Beer Engine is outstanding, but if you stocked your house with their stuff, you'd go broke pretty quick. I need to get down to Vintage Estates in Boardman and Anderson's in Bowling Green. Heard each has very rare offerings.

EDIT: Another good way is by becoming a trader on BeerAdvocate. I have not done much there, but its easy to get rare bottles/beers that don't distribute to Ohio if you can develop a good reputation. Hell, we can do that on the forums here. Ziner and I made a trade months ago: a 6r of Xmas Ale for a 4 pack of Ten Fidy + extra stuffs. He has Oskar Blues out there in Colorado which is a great brewery, but they don't ship to Ohio. While its illegal in many states to ship alcohol across state lines, its easy as long as you pack it correctly and be coy with what's inside. I did mine through FedEx and they didn't ask me a thing regarding the contents.

Have you tried this yet? I was excited to get a bottle and have refrained from reading reviews. I want it to be a real surprise.

FYI - I also have a 2008 vintage bottle of Gulden Draak, Founder's Backwoods Bastard i've cellared for 2 years, and the Piece de Resistance a 08-08-08 Vertical Epic from Stone. Not sure how that is going to be considering its a Belgian IPA (IPAs typically do not get better with age and are meant to be had fresh. Belgian's are different due to the type of yeast and the combination of being typically higher gravity with addition dextrose/sugar)

Nope, but I was amped by the bottle. No way that can possibly be bad.

Just remember, that if you intend to catch a buzz, 2-4 high calorie brews may get the job done more efficiently than 6-8 low cal offerings.

I'm in a similar situation, need to lose 10-15, but I'll switch to bourbon or scotch before I pick up an ultra, but that's me, YMMV.
