On one point - I wonder if the repayment of the $ 4 billion by the owners for a cancelled season hinges on the current players or if replacement players would fulfil the requirement?

Can't hire replacement players in a lockout. A strike, yes.

I recently heard from Mortensen on espn, league is going hardline against those in regards into having off-season discussions with coaches and going over the playbook.

Do you see holmgren sort of idly whistling, and using some intermediate way to ensure that McCoy and others get to look over the new schemes?

Let's ask ourselves why the League would hold a "hardline" against players that basically cross the union line to have discussions with coaches and go over the playbook (and thus undermining the Union stance).

The Union... yeah, they might hold a "hardline". They might brand those players "traitors". But the League? C'mon. That's exactly what they want. They might publicly say otherwise, but that's just fo' show.

McCoy has already been working with Shurmur on a regular basis to get up to speed before March 4th. I would assume the plan would then be for McCoy to work with skill position guys to start implementing the basics without direct contact with Shurmur or his staff. (But I do believe what Chris writes in that there would certainly be some back channel discussion). McCoy is pretty bright - I don't think he'll pick up all of the subtleties without actually playing in real games, but I think he can certainly explain the terminology and base sets and route trees to the WRs and backs.
