Not talking to you JB but everyone from Keith Olberman to Sara Palin thinks they're a centrist. I'm just tired of everybody shouting as loudly as they can and no one listening. That's why I've determined the whole fucking process is hopeless and therefore pointless.

If you recall some of my posts regarding politics, and I doubt you have, this pretty much sums up my entire stance on worldly things. However, I have much more Hatey McLife flowing through my veins. The backwards ass folks in the ME can dig their own holes and die in em. At some point, people being "oppressed" or those who don't have the means to have their voices heard are better served taking up a firearm. And if you think that view only applies to folks outside US borders, uh uh.

While we're on the subject of Democracy, who's to say Democracy is the cure over there? If you have large congregations of people who deny/hate/don't want to adopt western culture, by all means they can topple a theocratic government and put a system in place that makes voting FOR beating women and using draconian methods of punishment a completely acceptable practice. Its 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other all that changes is the method of delivery.

We agree that it will take decades if not centuries. That much is not really debatable.

The entirety of this post was excellent. I especially agree with the last part. Unfortunately, if it does take that much time, it makes the topic all the more mind-numbing. Regardless of all the debate, we will never see THAT world in our lifetimes which is why I am so jaded and apathetic about the whole thing. I don't understand getting all huffy and puffy when the solution to the problem lies with the people who occupy the very lands our government is trying to stabilize. US/Global intervention at this point, IMO, is a stop-gap when trying to improve/raise up 3rd world countries and/or theocracies/dictatorships. At some point, you either get WW3 when credos collide, or the US simply puts its guy in place.
