Guess as long as these guys have the juice to dictate where they play that they will act on it. And while I don't blame them for it I really wish it'd stop.

Sorry. Was reading about him playing in NJ for three months then signing with Knicks afterward.
BTW, Kegel the Elf is a dick.

papacass wrote:Chris Broussard reported the Cavs got in on the action with Denver and NJ. They had the framework of a trade hammered out that would have sent Troy Murphy's expiring and two first rounders to the Cavs. But the Cavs wanted Golden State's '12 first rounder that New Jersey currently owns, and the Nets aren't eager to part with that.
So it looks like this trade will happen without the Cavs' participation.

Playing Dunphy's advocate: Depends on when the two firsts are. If one of them isn't the '11 pick and the Nets actually fit some talent around Melo and Lopez, then you're looking at picks in the JJ range.
Then again, the GSW pick is lotto-protected. That really shouldn't have been much of a deal-breaker.

Probably not. You can survive losing him. Losing the Curry card sucks. You work to develop those opportunities and suffer until they finally arrve.
As has been written, Mello ain't what the media makes him, but not like he sucks. At all.
One important point is whether this would cap out the Knicks, and nobody can answer that right now.
I still say it comes down to PR, and in the end Dolan can't walk away from the need to get Mello PR wise. The art of the deal is being able to walk away. I don't thinnk he will.

peeker643 wrote:You might be right about the Knicks mistaking 'Melo for a PR need but that team's going to need to carefully seek and find some of the parts necessary to win playoff series and titles.
Melo ain't that in and of himself. I don't think any of the players/expirings mentioned individually or collectively stop you from doing the deal, but they better assume it's just another piece of the puzzle and not the final answer.
