I heard a little bit about this on my way to work this morning.

My initial impression is it's hard for me to find much wrong with what Sanchez did. If he meets her at a club he has a reasonable expectation that she's at least 18, probably 21. She apparently presented herself that way and never told her otherwise. It's not like he's an old man, he's only 24.

There's surly no rape, and I'll bet the age of consent in NY is something like 16 or 17 so I doubt there's statatory rape either.

I feel bad for Sanchez that he has to deal with this, honestly. He's a young pro athlete who went to a club and got laid. What's wrong with that?

I don't think it is a non story. It is another story of an athlete not being smart enough to protect themselves. The NY Post in another article reported that she told Deadspin that she straight up told him that he was 17 and she checked on the consent age.

Deadspin reported that Eliza claimed she met Sanchez on New Year's Eve at the Manhattan nightclub Lavo, where he approached her to chat, flirt and get her BlackBerry number.

The man thinks for a minute and tells her to go into the bedroom, turn out the lights and get naked. When she goes into the bedroom he goes back down to his car and gets this big mother watermelon out of truck. He goes back up to her place and knocks on the bedroom door.

“Are you ready?” he asks.

So he goes into the room and starts to pump her with the watermelon. She is just screaming her lungs out loving every minute of it. This goes on for an hour or so.

Back to Marky, I had an interesting argument with a girl who said it wasn't weird that he hooked up with a 17-year-old girl, seven years isn't even that big of a difference. The counter-argument of "It's not even that she's 17, it's that she's 17 and he's a filthy rich NFL QB who was in a club with presumably an endless amount of beautiful women--women, not girls who should be studying for a math test--and he knew she was 17" didn't seem to phase her.
