Hey, just watched this last night on netflix. It was a play shown on TV in 1970. Starring William Shattner , directed by George C Scott who does the intro and story set up.
The story is about the trial of confederate mass murder Henry Wurtz, the commandant of a POW camp in Andersonville Georgia. Some 14,000 union prisoners died under his mismanagement. Sure, Shattner is still playing the Captain Kirk role but he was pretty good and in his prime.
Give it a watch.

My next bizzaro recomendations is The War Game, 1965 BBC documentary on nuclear war.
Very dark and depressing. Love it!

I might also recommend "Andersonville," a made-for-TV movie from 1996 that won an Emmy. Directed by John Frankenheimer, it's a bit long at 2-1/2 hours, but it's riveting and well worth the money.

Some more goofy netflix recomendations.
Close to Home, a story about teen age Israli girls who are doing their manditory time in the army. Interesting evolution of a bunch of airheads put in serious circumstances.
The Red and the White. This one is depressing but thought provoking. Its the story of an area in the Russian revolution that keeps changing hands. No matter what side the civilians pick they get the beat down over and over again.
The Vice Guide to travel: Check this series out. They go to Chernobyl and hunt mutant deer. They sneak into North Korea from China. They go to Poland and Russia to try to find the origins of vodka. They go to an arms market in Taliban head Pakistan. They sneak a camera into Mecca. Plus many other episodes I havent gotten to yet.
