IMO not a leak but Harbaugh didn't pick up the phone. At this point if they cannot get a legit guy, their guy, and one of their own, they are stuck b/c with RRod they suck and if he leave it is at least 3 more years of suck until a real system is reloaded into that program.fairvis wrote:Conflicting reports... perhaps the news leaked prematurely.

He'll stay at Stanford of take the SF job, which is probably more likely, but he'll want power.
If he leavs and steps out of his kids lives for 18 hour days 50 weeks out of the year at UM, he's a bigger cock than the guy he replaces, if that is possible.
Thus he won't, and that's why he's giving UM the Berwanger from what I hear.

Alumni & stakeholder politics aside -- no small matter -- UM has to be one of the easiest turnaround jobs of all time.
Killer brand, one of about 6 true legacy programs, a busload of resources, and a mediocre level of competition in the conference.

I figured that no amount would be too high for UM to bring in Harbaugh, but it sounds like there is no amount. But, I agree, if they get the right guy the turnaround can be quick.
BTW: Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC? (Texas?) Close?

Given a sample size of one Tiger fan, seems like Miles should bolt. ;-)

That's the rumor, anyway. Do a google search "les miles gary moeller wife" and several hits will come back to internet forums where "insiders" say that Miles nailed Moeller's wife while both were on staff and explains why Miles wasn't considered for the job that Carr got. Bo didn't want Miles after that and there was no way Miles was going to get back to UM while Bo was alive. This alleged affair also led to or contributed to Moeller's problem with the bottle.
Interesting story, anyways. But it's why some UM fans say Miles has some "loose morals."
Again, all rumors and conjecture - God bless Al Gore for inventing the internet.

I've always been hot and cold on Miles, but at this point I don't want to see him leave. Not due to his credit, but more because I have serious doubts about this administration being able to go out and make a solid coaching hire this late in the game. A week ago I thought that there was no way Miles would leave LSU, but in the past 5 days (after a few occurences) I have changed my tune.

Smoke around here is that they'll consummate the deal tomorrow in Dallas (AFCA convention) and he will be announced/introduced to the public Wednesday. If I heard correctly, I think they have a home hoops game Wednesday night against Ohio St so I would imagine he'd get his audience there. Still a fluid situation right now, wouldn't be surprised if Miles has a change of heart.
Right now I'd list it 65-35 (leaning towards Michigan). Whatever will happen will happen tomorrow. In 24 hours we'll know where Miles will hang his big ass hat next year.
