The Big 12 was "conceived" in 1996, and since then, as near as I can figure, the series is tied at 11-11 in all head to head bowl games. In head to head BCS games, the conferences are also split, this time at 2-2. The conference record in in all BCS games is:

Big 10 10 -11
Big 12 7-10

Kinda like the two bastard step kids arguing over the SEC leftovers.

I am doing very well on my bowl pools based on a few assumptions:

-B10 is much better than people think
-B12 is not
-Big East and ACC are nearly equally as crappy with the ACC slightly>ACC.
-As usual the service academies are underrated.
-SEC is down but not bad, use the coaching match ups to determine the winners here
-Stanford and Oregon are good the rest of the PAC-10 is about as good as the rest of the Big-12.

If I were to rank them right now I would say:

1a) SEC
1b) Big Ten
3) PAC 10
4) Big 12
5) ACC
6) MWC
7) WAC
8) Service Academies
9) Big East

IMO Wiscy has a chance to show people they are probably the hardest team to beat on any given day.

Towards the end of the season, Wisco looked like the best team in the country to me. I am not sure that anyone can match up with that running attack and they have a nice defense too. They have looked as good as anyone late this year.

I guess I was wrong on the SEC and it destroyed nearly all of my bowl pools. I now have to rethink all of my later choices. I have a feeling that the SEC may be down more than I thought, bear with me a second.

-Florida has not been good.
-USC (East) was supposed to be some of the quality depth in the conference, a viable #3 or 4 and they looked like crap against FSU.
-GA couldn't beat a very pedestrian UCF team, they just couldn't move the ball.
-Tennessee was beaten in one of the most competitive bowl games I have seen recently by a depleted UNC team.
-LSU has been suspect all year (I have never been a believer in the Tigers this year, not since the early season UNC game).

How down is the SEC? We shall see today. This year's edition of the Big Ten is about as good as any I can remember in the last 8-10 years.

Some Vegas wiseguys think that the Florida players view Meyer leaving as him abandoning the team. They're backing Penn St., and that's evident because the line has moved down this morning.

I think it's a pretty reasonable answer. I also think that, with all the Charlie Weis talk, they're worried about their roles because they aren't really built to run a Charlie Weis offense with John Brantley. Plenty of distractions. If Penn St. takes care of the football, they could win this game.

Michigan / Miss State is looking like a nice game so far. If Robinson can continue to throw the ball like he is so far it's going to be tight all day. Florida/Penn St also started sloppy but it's straightening out. Penn State can gain alot of momentum if they can put points up here before half.

Bama/Michigan State was over when they announced it on the selection show. If Saban wasn't so conservative this thing could get real ugly.

Has to be. Year in and year out, they are just a team built for mediocrity.

Really the Eastern Division overall has been lackluster this year and it's manifesting itself in bowl games. Should have seen this coming with Florida also. Penn State has been good in bowl games for the past 5 or 6 years and Florida has been a house divided between younger and older players with Urban announcing his "retirement".

Still time on the clock. LSU should beat a&m, but you can't ever be positive when you roll into gameday without a real QB, Arkansas/Ohio St and Auburn/Oregon are tossups, and the Florida game is far from over. Huge variance with how this could play out for the SEC.

It is hard to get a take on how the Meyer quitting is affecting the Gators. They have been so "Jekyl and Hyde" from play to play this year that it is hard to tell if they are playing up or down as the norm changes with every play.

I knew MSU had no shot. They don't have the horses to play with 'Bama. Wisco vs. 'Bama would have been interesting.

scUM is fucking terrible just in case you forgot. We all knew that they don't play ANY D and it was just proven yet again that DickRods tricky "OMFG SPREAD PWNS U" offense doesn't work against good teams.

NW could've won that game (pbly would have) with their starting QB.

It sounds crazy, but even with Wiscy down 14-10 after missing the FG it feels like TCU is the team lucky to be in this. Biggest play of the game so far is the first pass of the game for the Badgers that was dropped inside the 8 of TCU.

If Wiscy stays the course, with their basic plan of using the huge Oline, they just might wind up pulling away and winning by double digits.

They may be competing with the 49'ers in that regard, which will be interesting. He wants to coach in the NFL anyways, and the 49'ers gig in the NFC West is almost perfect.

In a rare occurrence Herbie was off in saying TCU was blowing up the running game of the Badgers. Far from it, one focal ball carrier has 19 carries for over a 100 in 35 minutes of play, the Badgers as a team have 150 yards on the ground. Wiscy's problem is giving up 3rd downs and giving up too many 10 yard passes on D, if they turn that around they are in total control.

In no way do I think TCU is a better team. Today they are. Tomorrow they might not be.

I think TCU's better prepared and their coaching staff is taking Wisky's to the woodshed.

They are getting beat, no doubt, but it doesn't make much sense in that Wiscy is doing everything to their strength, and has a huge advantage in TOP, yet is just not getting anything out of it. Let's face it TCU hasn't done anything special what so ever really.

60 minutes is what it takes though, right now, Wiscy's biggest hope is that they are wearing TCU down and it will bear fruit in the 4th.

Wiscy's D is the disappointment tonight.

IMO what this game proves regardless of the outcome isn't so much the equality of a TCU or the few non AQs but the parity in the ranks of college coaching. There are a lot of very good to great game day coaches that can utilize their talents well enough or better than the opposing coaches of the giant programs in this David v Goliath context of college match ups the past few years.

Not that these mid level or smaller programs do not have talent, but they usually lack enough of it that the HC's have needed to go different routes in figuring out how to create a make up for their teams, b/c they don't have the base talent to sit back with a clip board and just allow their kids to block and run in the traditional straight forward fashion the world of college ball has become so used to.

Time becoming a big factor seeing as they need 8, so if they don't get the 2pc they are screwed most likely, not urgent enough IMO in getting this thing in the end zone.
