Hoping for El Nino to lay down some big dumps in the mountains. After having the earliest ski season ever in the Denver area the snow has been scarce. Heard that El Nino brings more snow in Feb and March... looking good so far. 19" the last 7 days in Vail so things are looking up. Went last week on Thursday and had 4 inches of fresh powder, not much better than a weekeday powder day at Vail. Absolutely beautiful and you have it all to yourself. Looked around in several bowls and didnt see another soul.

Crazy storm moved in to Colorado this afternoon 7 inches so far since 4. My wife left work at 4:50, she is still on the highway. Apparently they just shut down the road after she hasnt moved in 3 hours. What a clusterfuck.

No shit. I grew up in Willoughby, right on the edge of the belt. I remember getting a lot of snow, but never remember it being a huge deal. You got off school and life went on.

Now I live in Avon and it's like fucking Bermuda compared. We don't get shit over here. But every time a storm might be coming it's like the damn apocalypse is upon us. It's like it's everyone's first winter in Cleveland.

Honest to God, the worst part of any snow storm now is the TV. If they aren't just busting in in the middle of a show I'm watching to give me the latest breaking news of snow in Cleveland, they are taking up half the screen with maps and tickers and blinking shit. And don't forget to have a loud beeping sound go off every 2 minutes in case I didn't notice all of that shit on the screen.

It's fucking ridiculous. Pisses me the hell off.

Come visit the DC metro area in the winter. We're supposed to get 1-2 inches today. Inches, not feet. Most schools have closed just due to the forecast. It started snowing about an hour ago, and people just started getting up and leaving the office. People look at me like I'm crazy because I'm not wrapping stuff up to go home. I have to agree with the disgruntled motorists, what a disgraceful effort by the city. It is not easy for a city to deal with these types of things but for fucks sake they wanted people to stay in there cars, parked for 9-12 hours for safety? Who the hell came up with that idea? If traffic was moving let it continue to do so and just cut off further access to that route. As Nathan Jessup would say, they put people's lives in danger.

Meanwhile there was an amber alert in Cleveland for an entire fleet of plow trucks for the first 24 hours of this storm. BTW you know what they call a plow truck driving around without the plow engaged? A truck. Simple no excuse for cities in these inclement regions to not be ahead of the game as much as possible.

Danimal, landed Monday @ mid-continent about 5 and the blizzard of the century hit at 7. Was stuck in a Hampton inn in Wichita for 48 hours with nothing but their prefab breakfast and Subway in walking distance. Finally got out today at about noon. Grew up in NEO but this shit was banannas. It wasn't the 6 inches of snow, but the 40 MPH winds and zero degrees creating - 20 wind chill was the coldest I've ever been. Created no snow some places and 6 foot drifts with no warning others. Impossible to drive. Like running into a wall with almost no visibility. The good news is the Kid Rock show went on, apparently.

There were two delivery trucks stuck in the parking lot at my apt building this morning. About 30 cars backed up waiting to get out of the lot. Some of them were stopped on a hill and then when they were finally able to move they couldn't get up the hill. I ditched my car and walked to work (only about half a mile). Fell flat on my back in the middle of the road. Thought I had made it across the road at one point because I came to a 3-foot high drift but then realized this drift was in the middle of the road. I'm at work now and people are still showing up for their eye exams. WTF? You're risking your life to come get a routine eye exam?

I went to bed at 2am last night and it hadn't yet started snowing, so this shit came down real fast.
